The Saturday college football schedule will kick off with a battle between the Colorado Buffaloes and the Baylor Bears from McLane Stadium. The Buffaloes (2-1) started the season with a one-point road victory against Georgia Tech and are giving up 25 points per game. On Saturday, Colorado trailed by 21 points at halftime and turned the ball over four times during a 41-7 road loss against Northwestern.

Colorado’s only touchdown came five minutes into the second half on a 50-yard strike from Julian Lewis to Joseph Williams. Sophomore RB JaQuail Smith flashed on offense with eight carries for 91 yards. Senior DB Randon Fontenette added 13 tackles (9 solo) in a losing effort for the Buffaloes.

Baylor Preview

The Baylor Bears have had just one winning record in the previous four seasons and head coach Dave Aranda is squarely on the hot seat. The Bears (2-1) were stopped on a two-point conversion during a season-opening 17-16 loss versus Auburn and are allowing 13 points per contest. Last week, Baylor built a 13-point halftime lead and cruised to a 36-19 home victory versus Louisiana Tech.

Nate Bennett started in place of injured QB D.J. Lagway and threw for three touchdowns. Bennett finished with 253 passing yards and added a short rushing touchdown. Dawson Pendergrass carried 16 times for 46 yards and a score. Jayden McGowan contributed two receiving touchdowns for the Bears.
