Delaware vs FIU Game Information
Delaware and Florida International both enter this matchup at 2-1, with each team showing offensive strengths early in the season. The Blue Hens are fresh off a wild 44-41 overtime win over UConn, while FIU bounced back from a shutout loss at Penn State with a 38-28 victory over Florida Atlantic. Delaware Preview
Delaware’s offense is led by quarterback Nick Minicucci, who has been solid through three games with 582 passing yards, four touchdowns, and just one interception on 46-of-72 passing. His ability to spread the ball has kept the Blue Hens balanced, with Jake Thaw leading the receiving corps at 177 yards and a touchdown on 11 catches. Running back Jo Silver has chipped in 81 yards on 17 carries, though the ground game hasn’t been the focal point. The defense has had its ups and downs, giving up 31 points at Colorado before surrendering 41 to UConn, but linebacker Dillon Trainer has been disruptive with 1.5 sacks and Gavin Moul has posted 16 tackles to anchor the unit.
Florida International Preview
Florida International has shown more strength in the run game. Running back Kejon Owens leads the Panthers with 149 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, and his success has helped take pressure off quarterback Keyone Jenkins. Jenkins has thrown for 314 yards on 33-of-58 passing but has yet to record a touchdown while tossing one interception. Wideout Eric Nelson has contributed 56 receiving yards, though FIU has leaned more on its rushing attack to generate points. On defense, linebacker Johnny Chaney Jr. has been everywhere with 17 tackles and a sack, providing the physical presence in the middle that FIU needs against Delaware’s quick passing game.
FIU vs Delaware Pick
This matchup sets up as a clash between Delaware’s aerial approach and FIU’s preference for establishing the run. The Blue Hens have proven they can win a shootout, but they have also struggled to slow down opposing offenses. FIU, meanwhile, has a more consistent balance on both sides of the ball and home-field advantage in Miami. If Owens finds running lanes and the defense forces Minicucci into uncomfortable throws, the Panthers should be able to pull away in the second half.
