The Dukes have been competitive despite their record. Darius Perrantes is the leader under center, and he’s shown flashes of big-play ability. Against Lehigh, he struggled with consistency, but the upside is clear. The defense has been opportunistic at times but has given up over 30 points in each of their last two losses.

Akron Preview

Akron has shown more fight than their 0-3 record suggests. They’ve lost three straight by one possession, including a near-upset of UAB. The ground game has been the strength, but their inability to finish drives has been costly. The Zips have struggled late in games, particularly on third down and in red-zone situations.

This could turn into a close, gritty game between two evenly matched groups. Akron has the edge in size and depth, but Duquesne brings energy and creativity that can shake things up if they get going early. Execution and turnover margin will be everything under the lights.
