The offense has been able to move the ball effectively, with Brock Spalding stepping up as the top target at wide receiver with 178 yards and a score. That inefficiency has put extra pressure on the ground game, where Dominic Knicely has provided 119 yards on 16 carries. Coastal will need to improve its passing rhythm to keep East Carolina from stacking the box.
The Chanticleers’ defense, however, showed life last week by pitching a shutout. End Zeke Campbell has been productive with 1.5 sacks, while safety Dre Pinckney leads with 12 tackles. If the front seven can hold their ground at the line of scrimmage, Coastal may have a chance to force Houser into tougher down-and-distance situations. Playing at home in Conway gives them an added boost, but they’ll need clean execution on both sides to pull an upset.
