In Saturday night college football action, the Florida Atlantic Owls will invade Malone Stadium to take on the UL Monroe Warhawks. On Saturday, Florida Atlantic forced three turnovers and overcame ten penalties for 81 yards to earn a 16-10 home victory versus Florida International.

Florida Atlantic started the scoring on a Leonard Farrow four-yard touchdown run. Collin Rogers nailed three field goals and Easton Messer contributed a team-high 83 receiving yards on seven catches. Senior QB Caden Veltkamp completed 24 of 36 passes for 202 yards.

UL Monroe Preview

The UL Monroe have the smallest NIL budget at the FBS level and will be hard pressed to be competitive in the Sun Belt Conference. The Warhawks (0-3) suffered a season-opening 49-point loss at Mississippi State and rank last in the conference in total defense. On Saturday, UL Monroe committed three turnovers during a disappointing 38-35 home loss versus FCS SE Louisiana.

Austin Carlisle threw a pair of first-half touchdown passes, but was benched after having an interception returned for a score. Senior QB Aidan Armenta connected with Nic Trujillo on a 47-yard touchdown pass, but UL Monroe turned the ball over on downs on their final possession. Derrick Jameson rushed for 85 yards and a pair of scores for the Warhawks.
