Georgia Southern Preview

Quarterback JC French IV averages 209.6 passing yards per game (1,677 yards, 14 touchdowns, six interceptions) while completing 61.5% of his throws. Running back OJ Arnold is averaging 64.0 rushing yards per game (512 yards, three touchdowns) at 5.8 yards per carry. Camden Brown averages 80.3 receiving yards per game (40 receptions, 642 yards) and has nine touchdowns, giving French a consistent big-play option. The Eagles are averaging 28.8 points per game but have struggled with pass protection on the road.

Linebacker Brandon Tyson averages 7.3 tackles per game (58), and defensive lineman MJ Stroud leads the front with 3.5 sacks. Georgia Southern allows 35.4 points per game and has been hurt by long drives and breakdowns in coverage that extend opponents’ possessions.

Appalachian State Preview

Quarterback AJ Swann is averaging 135.4 passing yards per game (1,083 yards, eight touchdowns, six interceptions) and shares time with JJ Kohl, who averages 122.4 yards (979, eight touchdowns, two interceptions). Running back Rashod Dubinion has rushed for 756 yards and four touchdowns at 5.5 yards per carry, and wide receiver Jaden Barnes averages 55.6 receiving yards per game (41 receptions, 445 yards, six touchdowns). The Mountaineers average 27.0 points per game and rely on Dubinion to control tempo.

Linebacker Colton Phares averages 7.5 tackles per game (60), and the Mountaineers’ pass rush has produced consistent pressure with 18 sacks. App State allows 27.6 points per game but has played stronger at home, particularly in red-zone defense.

Georgia Southern at Appalachian State Prediction

Georgia Southern’s passing game can create quick scores, but App State’s ground game and improved red-zone defense make the difference. Dubinion has run the ball well this season for Appalachian State, and the Mountaineers’ balanced offense should keep Georgia Southern guessing. Final Score Prediction: Appalachian State Mountaineers win and cover ATS, 33–24.
