Kentucky vs Tennessee Picks and Prediction for Saturday November 7 2026
Kentucky is 7-1. Tennessee is 6-2.
And the Volunteers are favored by almost a touchdown.
Now, I understand the home-field advantage. Neyland Stadium can be a difficult place to play. But Kentucky has been winning games all season, and I don’t think the Wildcats deserve to be treated like some ordinary road underdog.
This is one where I’m taking the points.

Kentucky visits Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Saturday, November 7, with kickoff at 6:15 PM ET on ESPN. Tennessee is favored by 5.5 points at BetRivers, and the total is around 49.5. The Volunteers have dominated the recent series, winning last year’s meeting 56-34. Game-time weather still needs confirmation. Kentucky Wildcats Have Earned Some Respect
Kentucky is 7-1 and 5-1 in SEC play. That’s a terrific start, and the Wildcats are ranked ninth nationally. They’re not getting those wins by accident. Kentucky has been putting up points while finding ways to finish close games, and that matters heading into a difficult road environment.
The Wildcats average 32.9 points and allow 24.8. The offense has been productive enough to keep pressure on opponents, but the defense is the concern. Allowing nearly 25 points a game against a Tennessee team that can run the football isn’t ideal. Kentucky needs to keep the Volunteers from controlling the line of scrimmage.
Kentucky’s quarterback and primary offensive leader totals require a final verified statistical check, along with the injury report. I’m not going to invent those figures. The bigger matchup issue is whether the Wildcats can maintain their scoring production against a Tennessee defense that’s allowing only 16.3 points a game. That’s a much tougher challenge than Kentucky’s season average might suggest.
Tennessee Volunteers Have the Better Defense
Tennessee is 6-2 and 3-2 in SEC play. The Volunteers are ranked 16th, and they get Kentucky at home. They’ve also beaten the Wildcats in four consecutive meetings, including a 56-34 win last season. That history doesn’t guarantee anything Saturday, but Tennessee has had a good handle on this matchup lately.
The Volunteers average 32.3 points and allow just 16.3. That’s the difference I keep coming back to. Kentucky scores slightly more, but Tennessee allows more than eight fewer points per game. The Volunteers have also been effective running the football, which gives them a way to control the clock and keep Kentucky’s offense on the sideline.
DeSean Bishop has rushed for 957 yards, making him a major part of Tennessee’s offense. Mike Matthews has 528 receiving yards, while George MacIntyre has recorded 728 passing yards in his appearances. Those numbers give Tennessee a strong running foundation, but the passing game still needs to make enough plays to keep Kentucky honest. Final injury information should be confirmed before publication.
Kentucky vs Tennessee Picks and Prediction
Kentucky +5.5
I’m taking Kentucky plus 5.5. Tennessee might be the better defensive team, and Bishop could have a big afternoon if the Volunteers control the line of scrimmage. That’s the concern. But Kentucky is 7-1, averaging nearly 33 points, and has been finding ways to win. I don’t want to give up almost a touchdown against a team playing this well. Tennessee may win at home. I just think Kentucky stays within a field goal.
Under 49.5 Points
I’ll take Under 49.5. Tennessee is allowing only 16.3 points a game, and I expect the Volunteers to lean on their running game. That should help shorten the game. Kentucky can score, so I’m not pretending this is an easy Under. The Wildcats could hit a couple of big plays and force Tennessee to open things up. But I think the Volunteers try to control possession, and Kentucky’s offense has to work for its points. Something like Tennessee 24-21 would suit me fine.
Final Picks: Kentucky +5.5 and Under 49.5 Points
