In Saturday afternoon college football action, the Lafayette Leopards will travel to Pratt & Whitney Stadium to take on the UConn Huskies. Make sure you are ready for all the football action with our college football picks. The FCS Leopards (8-4) won their first six Patriot League games in 2025, but fell to Lehigh in the league championship game by a 42-32 final score. Lafayette is unsettled at quarterback with Jason Penza and Daniel Lipovsky in the mix. The Leopards lost RB Kente Edwards (20 TDs) to Coastal Carolina, but return three very capable wide receivers.

Lafayette is a high-powered offensive team, but has the potential to be good on the defensive side of the ball as well. Penn State transfer LB Beckham Dee (62 tackles, 7 TFL) was impressive in his first season and has been named a team captain. The Leopards have some holes to fill in the secondary, but DB Jalen Edwards (2 INT) is a solid starting option.

UConn Preview

The UConn Huskies have been one of the formats of FBS football, but departed head coach Jim Mora led the program to consecutive nine-win seasons. The Huskies (9-4) hired Jason Candle from Toledo to replace Mora and dispel the myth that this is a basketball only school. New offensive coordinator Nunzio Campanile was lured away from Syracuse and must decide on the right fit in a three-way QB battle. The RB room is deep, but UConn will struggle moving the ball through the air.

Candle’s defense in Toledo finished second nationally in yards allowed and limited opponents to an impressive 13.3 points per game. Former Pittsburgh assistant Ryan Manalac was tabbed to call the defense and he will rely heavily on Toledo transfer LB K’Von Sherman (52 tackles, 4.5 sacks).
