In Saturday afternoon college football action, the Maryland Terrapins will visit Pratt & Whitney Stadium to battle the UConn Huskies. DeJuan Williams started the scoring for Maryland five minutes into the first quarter with a 94-yard touchdown run. Talented sophomore QB Malik Washington threw for 186 yards and a touchdown. Iverson Howard contributed two rushing scores for the Terrapins, who rushed for an impressive 365 yards on 40 carries.

UConn Preview

The UConn Huskies have won 18 games over the past two seasons, but lost head coach Jim Mora to Colorado State in the offseason. The Huskies (1-0) hired Jason Candle from Toledo as Mora’s replacement, but are one of the worst teams in returning production. In their season opener, UConn erupted for 35 points in the first half and rolled up 671 yards of total offense during a 56-7 home victory versus FCS Lafayette.

Toledo transfer QB Kalieb Osborne shined in his UConn debut. Osborne threw a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter and added a nine-yard touchdown run to give the Huskies a 21-0 lead. Trey Cornist added 76 rushing yards and a score.
