War Memorial Stadium will be the setting for a Saturday afternoon college football meeting between the Northern Colorado Bears and the Wyoming Cowboys. Northern Colorado jumped out to an early 7-0 lead on a 54-yard touchdown pass from Kenny Lueth to Trey Olsen. With the Bears trailing by 21 points late in the fourth quarter, Brayten Silbor threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Herron. Northern Colorado lost despite possessing the ball for 35 plus minutes.

Wyoming Preview

The Wyoming Cowboys are a proud program, but have won just seven games over the previous two seasons. The Cowboys (0-1) tabbed Christian Taylor as their new offensive coordinator to fix a unit that ranked near the bottom of the Mountain West Conference and averaged just 16 points per contest. In their season opener, Wyoming’s secondary was shredded for 242 passing yards and five touchdowns during a 35-13 road loss against Colorado State.

Wyoming cut an eight-point halftime deficit to one on a Trey Hughes nine-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. The Cowboys were driving in Colorado State territory with a chance to take the lead, but Hughes threw a costly interception. Wyoming turned the ball over four times and failed to convert on eight third down opportunities.
