SECU Stadium will play host to a Friday night college football clash between the Northern Illinois Huskies and the Maryland Terrapins. On Saturday, Dev’ion Reynolds delivered a 96-yard kickoff return touchdown in the fourth quarter to lift Northern Illinois to a 19-17 home victory versus Holy Cross.

Northern Illinois Preview

Northern Illinois RB Chavon Wright sealed the victory with a two-yard touchdown run and finished with a game-high 77 rushing yards. DeAree Rogers contributed 73 receiving yards for the Huskies, who limited the Crusaders to 218 total yards.

Maryland Preview

The Maryland Terrapins are looking to rebound after winning just one Big Ten Conference game and having a three-year bowl streak snapped. The Terrapins (1-0) ranked third in the conference in passing offense, but managed just 23.7 points per game a season ago. On Saturday, Maryland’s defense forced six turnovers during a 39-7 home victory versus Florida Atlantic.

Maryland freshman QB Malik Washington (258 pass yds) threw three touchdown passes in the second quarter to give his team a 33-7 halftime advantage. Shaleak Knotts caught five passes for a team-high 59 yards and a touchdown. DeJuan Williams added 54 rushing yards for the Terrapins, who were mostly inefficient on the ground (3.7 ypc).

Northern Illinois vs Maryland Pick

Northern Illinois pulled off the biggest upset of last season by defeating Notre Dame on the road. However, the Huskies lost a ton of talent from that team and are very much in a rebuilding mode.
