Northwestern heads to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Saturday, riding a four-game win streak that has put the Wildcats back in the Big Ten West race. At 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play, the Wildcats have built momentum behind effective quarterback play and a disciplined defense that just shut out Purdue 19-0. Nebraska, ranked No. 25, sits at 5-2 as well but stumbled last week with a 24-6 loss at Minnesota. This matchup at Memorial Stadium could determine which team stays alive in the conference divisional chase. Rivalry week? Bowl season? Northwestern Preview

Preston Stone has been the key to Northwestern’s turnaround, passing for 1,081 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 62% of his passes on the season. His chemistry with receiver Griffin Wilde, who has 469 yards and three scores, has added a much-needed downfield threat. Running back Caleb Komolafe has provided steady production, totaling 416 yards and five touchdowns on 95 carries. The offense has benefited from sustained drives and balance, keeping opponents off balance and allowing the defense to stay fresh into the fourth quarter.

Linebacker Robert Fitzgerald anchors Northwestern’s defense with 47 tackles, while lineman Aidan Hubbard has tallied 2.5 sacks. The group has limited big plays, allowing the Wildcats to control the flow of the game.

Nebraska Preview

Nebraska’s offense has leaned heavily on freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola, who has already thrown for 1,768 yards with 16 touchdowns to just five interceptions. His command of the offense has created a strong Cornhuskers’ passing attack, complemented by a solid ground game led by Emmett Johnson’s 713 rushing yards and seven scores. Wideout Nyziah Hunter leads with 455 receiving yards and four touchdowns, helping Nebraska average over 30 points in its five wins. The loss to Minnesota exposed issues with pass protection, something Northwestern’s front seven could exploit.

Nebraska’s Javin Wright leads with 51 tackles, and linebacker Dasan McCullough adds two sacks to a unit that’s physical but occasionally vulnerable to quick passes and misdirection. Both teams defend the run well, so success will hinge on third-down execution and field position.

Nebraska vs Northwestern Prediction

Nebraska’s home-field edge and talented offense will prevail, but Northwestern’s defense keeps it competitive into the second half. Expect the Cornhuskers’ red-zone finishes to prove decisive late in the game.

Prediction: Nebraska 27, Northwestern 17
