Quarterback Julian Sayin was efficient in his first true test, completing 13 of 20 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown, while wide receiver Carnell Tate delivered a clutch fourth-quarter score. In Week 2, Ohio State cruised to a blowout win over Kent State, giving the starters valuable reps before turning the focus to this in-state matchup.

The Ohio Bobcats currently sit 1-1 in the MAC after an up-and-down start to their 2025 campaign. Ohio opened with a tough 34–31 road loss at Rutgers, a game where the Bobcats showed offensive flashes but couldn’t finish drives consistently. They bounced back in Week 2 with a headline-grabbing 17–10 upset over West Virginia in Athens, marking one of the program’s biggest wins in recent years. Quarterback Parker Navarro showcased his dual-threat ability, combining for 247 passing yards and 87 rushing yards to pace the Bobcats’ offense. Wideout Chase Hendricks was the go-to target, racking up 121 receiving yards and a touchdown, while the Bobcats’ defense came up with timely stops to seal the win.
