The 18th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners visit Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Saturday to play the Temple Owls at 10:00 AM ET on ESPN2. Oklahoma enters 2–0 after handling Michigan 24–13 and cruising past Illinois State 35–3. Temple is also 2–0, blasting Howard 55–7 and winning 42–10 at UMass. Recent form favors the Sooners’ step up in competition, while the Owls have piled up points against lighter foes. Oklahoma Preview

Oklahoma’s offense has been sharp behind John Mateer, who is completing at a high clip (51/71) for 662 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions, while rushing for 98 yards and three touchdowns. Deion Burks (14 catches, 189 yards, 2 TD) is the leading receiver. Up front, protection has mostly held, with Mateer being sacked just three times

There’s been strong play by Oklahoma’s front seven. Linebacker Sammy Omosigho leads with 11 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. Linebacker Owen Heinecke also has 11 tackles. Oklahoma has made three quarterback sacks, but the Sooners’ secondary has not yet intercepted a pass.

Temple Preview

Temple’s start has been explosive with Evan Simon lighting it up (27/35, 422 yards, 9 TD). TE Peter Clarke (6 for 119, 2 TD) is the leading receiver, and RB Jay Ducker (29 carries, 215 yards, one TD), leads the ground game. Temple has scored three touchdowns on the ground, and the Owls have scored 10 touchdowns through the air.

The Owls have also played tough on defense. Linebacker Eric Stuart is the leading tackler with nine, while two others have eight tackles each. Temple has made four quarterback sacks, and the Owls have intercepted two passes. However, Temple will have its first real test on Saturday as its first two opponents were nowhere near as talented as Oklahoma.
