Portland State Preview

For the Vikings, the passing game has been by committee. John-Keawe Sagapolutele, CJ Jordan, and Gabe Downing have combined for modest production, with Sagapolutele leading at 203 yards with one touchdown but three interceptions. The ground game hasn’t provided relief, as Tyrese Smith has 78 yards. Branden Alvarez (8 receptions, 82 yards), is the leading receiver, but through three games, the Vikings have just one touchdown through the air as well as one on the ground.

The Portland State Defense has been porous to say the least. Defensive back Isaiah Green is the leading tackler with 31 and linebacker Jaxton Helmstetler is second with 23. Portland State has made four quarterback sacks through the first three games but the secondary has not yet intercepted a pass as they have been burned on a regular basis by opposing offenses.

Hawaii Preview

Hawaii's offense is led by talented quarterback Micah Alejado, who has thrown for 367 yards with two touchdowns and one interception but has been sacked eight times. Landon Sims has 113 yards rushing but is averaging just 3.8 yards per carry. Pofele Ashlock leads all receivers with 22 receptions for 218 yards and three scores. Defensive back Peter Manuma is the leading tackler with 21, while two others have 15 tackles apiece.  Hawaii has made seven sacks and intercepted two passes.

Portland State vs Hawaii Prediction

The Rainbow Warriors have had better play at quarterback and on defense. Portland State is one of the weakest teams in the nation on defense, as the Vikings are allowing an average of 53.7 points per game while the offense has generated just 20 points through the first three games and has been shut out twice. Final Score Prediction: Hawaiian Rainbow Warriors win and cover ATS 54-3.
