Purdue Preview

Purdue’s struggles continue after a narrow 27-20 loss to Minnesota, marking the fourth straight defeat. Quarterback Ryan Browne has been efficient in spots with 1,338 passing yards and seven touchdowns, but turnovers and inconsistency have limited the offense’s momentum. Running back Devin Mockobee remains a steady contributor with 304 rushing yards and four scores on 81 carries. The passing game centers around Michael Jackson III, who’s collected 305 yards on 32 catches. Purdue needs to reestablish early momentum, as slow starts have forced the team into predictable passing situations. Despite some success, the Boilermakers have yet to find the balance that can sustain drives and protect the defense from extended field time.

Northwestern Preview

Northwestern enters with confidence after a stunning 22-21 win at Penn State, the third straight victory and perhaps the program’s most complete game this season. Quarterback Preston Stone has thrown for 918 yards and seven touchdowns, spreading the ball effectively to Griffin Wilde, who leads with 375 receiving yards and two scores. Running back Caleb Komolafe has been a physical presence in the backfield with 344 rushing yards and four touchdowns, helping control tempo and field position. Linebacker Robert Fitzgerald anchors a unit that continues to limit big plays, while Aidan Hubbard has been disruptive up front with 2.5 sacks. Northwestern’s physical play at home has been a defining advantage through the early schedule, and it’s carried them through close games.

Northwestern vs Purdue Pick

This matchup tilts toward Northwestern’s steadier structure and improving play at quarterback. Purdue’s offense hasn’t performed well, and the lack of run-game consistency makes sustaining drives difficult against a disciplined defense. Northwestern’s balanced attack and recent confidence at home make the Wildcats a logical side. Expect a methodical pace early before Northwestern’s offense gradually takes control.

Prediction: Northwestern 27, Purdue 17
