Rutgers and Purdue meet in a Big Ten matchup at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana, on Saturday, with the opening kickoff at 1:00 PM ET on BTN. Both teams are looking to snap four-game conference skids, and this one could hinge on which offense finds an advantage first. Rutgers sits at 3-4 overall but 0-4 in Big Ten play, while Purdue is 2-5 and still seeking its first conference win of the year. Rivalry week? Bowl season? Stay ahead of the oddsmakers with insider-level college football predictions.

Rutgers Preview

Rutgers has stumbled through October, dropping four straight after a strong nonconference start. Quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis has thrown for 1,785 yards with 11 touchdowns and only three interceptions, but has been under heavy pressure in recent weeks. Running back Antwan Raymond continues to be the offensive focal point with 560 rushing yards and nine scores, offering a steady ground option. Receiver Ian Strong has been the top target, pulling down 36 catches for 537 yards, though the passing game has lacked big plays in recent weeks. The Scarlet Knights’ defense has struggled to contain balanced attacks, giving up 38 or more points in three of the last four losses, including a 56-10 drubbing by Oregon last week.

Purdue Preview

Purdue’s offense has gone quiet lately, posting just 19 total points over its last two games. Quarterback Ryan Browne has thrown for 1,541 yards with seven touchdowns and seven picks, showing inconsistency in accuracy. Running back Devin Mockobee has been reliable between the tackles, rushing for 402 yards and four touchdowns, but the line has failed to open enough lanes to sustain long drives. Receiver Michael Jackson III remains a dependable option with 36 receptions for 354 yards, though Purdue’s red-zone execution has been one of the weakest in the Big Ten. Linebacker Charles Correa leads the defense with 55 tackles, and edge rusher CJ Nunnally IV has been one of the bright spots with four sacks on the season. Purdue’s inability to finish drives has turned what should have been close games into one-sided losses.

Purdue vs Rutgers Prediction

This matchup shapes up as a low-scoring, grind-it-out conference battle between two struggling teams. Rutgers’ offense has more stability behind Kaliakmanis and Raymond, while Purdue’s home-field edge could keep it close into the fourth quarter. Expect Rutgers to control time of possession and rely on its running game to secure a much-needed road win.
