Defensively, Stanford’s front performed well. Clay Patterson already has three sacks, and Matt Rose leads with 30 tackles. Virginia’s offense has balance and can finish. On defense, the Cavaliers rush the passer well, and the secondary defends passes. Safety Ethan Minter already has a pick, while the pass rush —Mitchell Melton, Fisher Camac, and company—has combined for steady pressure. Against a Stanford line that has allowed QB pressure and a passing attack that hasn’t produced a TD yet, Virginia should stop the Stanford attack early and give its offense short fields to work on.
