In Saturday afternoon college football action, the Stonehill Skyhawks will visit Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium to tackle the UMass Minutemen. UMass Preview

The UMass Minutemen entered the season with a record of 8-68 since 2019 and were expected to finish last in the MAC Conference. Former Rutgers defensive coordinator Joe Harasymiak failed to win a game in his first season as head coach, but there are signs of optimism in Amherst. The Minutemen opened the season with a stunning 37-21 road victory against Harasymiak’s former school. Last week, UMass built a 23-point halftime lead and cruised to a 37-10 home victory versus FCS Sacred Heart.

Virginia Tech transfer QB Pop Watson followed up a strong debut with 152 passing yards and a 49-yard touchdown to T.Y. Harding. Watson added 40 rushing yards and a score on 11 carries. Elijah Faulkner contributed a game-high 72 yards on the ground for the Minutemen, who possessed the ball for less than 25 minutes.
