West Virginia Preview

The West Virginia Mountaineers are winless through their first four Big 12 Conference games and are playing a lot of young players for first head coach Rich Rodriguez. The Mountaineers (2-5) rank near the bottom of the conference in total offense and are averaging just 21 points per game. Last week, West Virginia managed just 210 yards of total offense and was outscored by 21 points during the third quarter of an ugly 45-13 road loss against UCF.

Freshman QB Khalil Wilkins cut West Virginia’s early 14-point deficit in half with a six-yard touchdown run. Wilkins and fellow freshman QB Scotty Fox Jr. combined for a woeful 79 passing yards on 27 attempts. The Mountaineers gave up an alarming 7.3 yards per rush and 578 total yards to the Knights.
