Texas A&M has leaned on quarterback Marcel Reed, who has already thrown for 509 yards and seven touchdowns across his first two outings. His connection with Mario Craver has been electric, as the wideout has 236 receiving yards and three scores on 13 receptions. The Aggies have also shown balance on the ground, with Reed adding 105 rushing yards himself. After taking down UTSA and Utah State in back-to-back weeks, Texas A&M brings plenty of momentum and scoring power into this matchup.
The Aggies will need more than offense to cover as underdogs. Linebacker Taurean York leads the team with 12 tackles, giving the front seven an anchor against Notre Dame’s run game. This group gave up 22 points to Utah State and 24 to UTSA, numbers that will need to tighten against a higher-level opponent. If Texas A&M can limit explosive plays and give Reed extra possessions, they’ll have a chance to keep things close.
Notre Dame Preview
Notre Dame enters at 0-1 but still holds the No. 9 ranking nationally thanks to a strong returning roster. Freshman quarterback CJ Carr completed 19 of 30 passes for 221 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in his debut. Tight end Eli Raridon looks to be a reliable option with 97 receiving yards already. Running back Jadarian Price has only six carries but is expected to get more touches as the season progresses.
The Irish defense remains the foundation. Safety Jalen Stroman has nine tackles through one game, while Boubacar Traore and Cashius Howell bring pressure up front. Against Miami, Notre Dame held the Hurricanes under 30 points despite turnovers and missed opportunities on offense. At home in front of a fired-up crowd, this unit should be even more difficult to break down.
