UConn held the Blue Devils to just 257 yards of total offense, while the Huskies' offense generated 681 yards of total offense. UConn had 26 first downs compared to just 13 for Central Connecticut. UConn quarterback Joe Fagnano has thrown for 260 yards with three touchdowns. The Syracuse Orange opened the regular season on Saturday with a 45-26 loss to the No. 24-ranked Tennessee Volunteers. Syracuse performed well on offense, gaining 377 yards, but committed two costly turnovers. The Syracuse defense struggled, allowing 495 yards of total offense to Tennessee. One of Syracuse’s two turnovers was a 22-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Tennessee.

Syracuse quarterback Steve Angell has thrown for 274 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Yasin Willis is the leading rusher with 91 yards and three touchdowns, while the leading receiver is Johntay Cook II with 58 yards and one touchdown reception. Defensive lineman David Reese leads all tacklers with seven. Syracuse did not have any sacks or interceptions in the opening game.
