Massachusetts Preview
UMass is still searching for its first win of the season. Quarterback Grant Jordan has thrown for 278 yards on 27-of-46 passing but has not thrown a touchdown. The offense has struggled to move the ball, scoring only one touchdown in its last two games. Wide receiver Jacquon Gibson leads the team with 30 catches for 288 yards, while tight end Max Dowling has the team’s only receiving touchdown.
Running back Rocko Griffin leads the team with 165 rushing yards and one score. UMass is averaging just 2.5 yards per carry and has been inconsistent on third downs. Linebacker Timmy Hinspeter leads the defense with 41 tackles, and defensive lineman Marques White has three sacks. The defense has been on the field often, but has forced a turnover in four of five games this year.

Quarterback Dru DeShields has thrown for 642 yards with five touchdowns and one interception, completing nearly 59% of his passes. The Golden Flashes are averaging 16 points per game and will need better execution in the red zone to end drives with touchdowns. Linebacker Mason Woods leads the defense with 28 tackles, while defensive back CJ Young has the team’s only interception. Kent State has allowed more than 40 points in three straight games and must limit big plays to keep control in the second half.
UMass Minutemen vs Kent State Golden Flashes Prediction
Both teams have struggled on offense, but Kent State has a more stable passing game with DeShields under center. UMass has moved the ball in at times, but has not finished its drives. Kent State will take advantage of playing at home and better quarterback play to pull away late. Final Score Prediction: Kent State Golden Flashes win and cover ATS 24–13.
