UTSA Preview

UTSA has leaned on quarterback Owen McCown, who has thrown for 756 yards with seven touchdowns to just two interceptions. He’s completing 86 of 138 passes and has been efficient in recent outings. The run game has been led by Robert Henry Jr., who already has 624 rushing yards and seven scores on 68 carries, giving the Roadrunners a reliable ground option. Devin McCuin has paced the receiving corps with 22 catches for 217 yards and two touchdowns, giving McCown a steady target in the passing game. UTSA’s recent schedule shows toughness with a tight 17-16 win at Colorado State and a convincing 48-20 victory over Incarnate Word, balancing out early losses to Texas A&M and Texas State.

Temple Preview

Temple has had more uneven results, starting with dominant wins over Howard and UMass before running into a wall against Oklahoma and Georgia Tech. Quarterback Evan Simon has been productive in limited throws, completing 53 of 92 attempts for 624 yards and an impressive 10 touchdowns. The Owls’ offense has also benefited from Jay Ducker in the backfield, who has 315 yards and two touchdowns on 50 carries. JoJo Bermudez leads the receivers with 184 yards and two scores on 15 catches, providing a downfield presence. On defense, linebacker Cam’Ron Stewart has been the most disruptive force with four sacks through four games.

UTSA vs Temple Prediction

This matchup comes down to whether Temple can establish balance on offense against a UTSA squad that has been tested against stronger opponents. McCown’s steady play and Henry Jr.’s dominance on the ground make the Roadrunners more consistent offensively, while Temple’s defense has shown cracks against Power 5 competition.

Best Picks:

  • UTSA -3 (Roadrunners’ offensive consistency gives them the edge).
  • Over 54.5 (both teams have shown scoring ability, and the defenses have been vulnerable).
  • Robert Henry Jr. anytime touchdown (seven rushing TDs already make him a strong red-zone option).
