Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Picks and Prediction for Sunday November 1 2026
Tampa Bay is favored Sunday. That’s fine. Somebody has to be.
But I’m looking at this game and wondering why I’m supposed to trust the Buccaneers more than Atlanta. The Falcons just knocked off San Francisco, their running game has been excellent, and Tampa is missing another important receiver.
I’ll take the points.
Atlanta travels to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Sunday, November 1, for a 1 PM ET kickoff on FOX. The Buccaneers are 2.5-point favorites, and the total is 44.5. The weather could make things interesting. Expect temperatures around 81 degrees, winds near 13 mph with gusts reaching 23, and roughly a 48% chance of rain. That’s not ideal for throwing deep balls all afternoon. It could turn this into a running game, and I like Atlanta’s chances in that kind of contest. Atlanta Falcons Have Been Running the Ball Well
Atlanta is 3-4 and has been frustratingly inconsistent. But the Falcons are coming off a win over San Francisco, and that means something. They didn’t beat some helpless team. They knocked off an opponent capable of making a playoff run. Now they have to do it again on the road against a division rival.
The Falcons have one of the better rushing attacks in football, and that’s where I think they have to start Sunday. They don’t need to ask Michael Penix Jr. to throw 40 times. Get the ball moving on the ground, stay out of third-and-long, and make Tampa defend the whole field. Both clubs have top-five run defenses, so nobody is going to run for 200 yards without a fight. But Atlanta has the kind of back who can turn an ordinary play into a big gain.
Bijan Robinson leads the league with 704 rushing yards and has 907 yards from scrimmage. That’s not just good production. That’s an offense built around one of the most dangerous players in football. Penix has also thrown three touchdowns without an interception across his last two games, which tells me he’s been making better decisions. Brian Robinson is out with a hamstring injury, while several defensive players, including Samson Ebukam and Avieon Terrell, are questionable. Atlanta needs those defenders available, especially against Baker Mayfield.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Still Have a Dangerous Offense
Tampa Bay is 2-5, which is a pretty disappointing start. The Buccaneers did win convincingly last week, and Mayfield didn’t have to throw much to get it done. That’s encouraging. But one good game doesn’t erase five losses. Tampa needs to prove it can put together a few wins before I start treating it like the clear favorite in the division.
The Buccaneers have been leaning on the running game, and Bucky Irving has been difficult to bring down. He’s gained 189 yards after forcing missed tackles, fifth-most in the league. That’s the kind of runner who can keep drives alive even when the blocking isn’t perfect. Atlanta’s run defense is strong, though, and I think Tampa is going to have to throw the ball more than it did last week.
Mayfield is still capable of winning a close game with a couple of good throws. That’s the danger in taking Atlanta. But Emeka Egbuka has been ruled out with a foot injury, and right tackle Luke Goedeke is questionable with a calf problem. Those are two important pieces. Kenneth Gainwell is also questionable. If Tampa can’t protect Mayfield or get enough separation outside, the Buccaneers could struggle to finish drives.
Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Picks and Prediction
Atlanta Falcons +2.5
Give me Atlanta plus 2.5. Tampa is at home, and Mayfield is the kind of quarterback who can steal a close game late. I get that. But Atlanta has been playing better lately, Robinson is running extremely well, and the Falcons have a chance to control possession. Tampa’s receiver injuries make me even more interested. This feels like a game decided by a field goal either way. I’ll take the points and wouldn’t be surprised if Atlanta wins outright.
Under 44.5 Points
I’m taking Under 44.5. Both teams have strong run defenses, and the weather could make passing more difficult. The forecast includes gusts above 20 mph and a decent chance of rain. That’s not automatically an Under, but it does make me think both teams will be more comfortable keeping the ball on the ground. Atlanta can score quickly if Robinson breaks one, and Mayfield can certainly move the ball. But I see more long drives than explosive plays. Something like Atlanta 21-20 works for me.
Final Picks: Atlanta Falcons +2.5 and Under 44.5 Points
