Burrow set that record because of how poorly the Cincinnati defense performed in 2025. Cincinnati edge rusher Trey Hendrickson is their best overall defensive player, but the talented defender does not have enough help on that side of the line of scrimmage to regularly stop opposing offenses, and that will be the case on opening day when visiting the Cleveland Browns.
Browns Preview
The Cleveland Browns finished 3-14 last season and were last in the AFC North. Cleveland used several quarterbacks a season ago, and this season will start veteran Joe Flacco under center. However, Flaco is 40 years old and has not played an entire season since 2017. Cleveland has had 40 starting quarterbacks since 1999, which is the highest in the NFL, and that number will probably increase as Cleveland will likely have to use Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders at some point.
Cleveland's strength this season is its defensive line, and it will help keep the Browns close against most opponents. Myles Garrett is the best overall player on defense for Cleveland, and the signing of Maliek Collins makes the front four for Cleveland even stronger. Rookie Mason Graham had nine sacks while playing for the Michigan Wolverines and will be a pest for opposing QBs.

The Cincinnati Bengals will score plenty of points this season thanks to quarterback Joe Burrow in a very talented receiving corps, but the defense is one of the NFL's worst and will have problems keeping opposing teams out of the end zone. Although Cleveland may not score the most points in the NFL and has a very old QB by league standards, the Browns will get enough gun on that side of the line and make enough stops against the Cincinnati offense to produce a win and cover at home on Sunday.
