Miami's front seven on defense is its strength, led by Jaelen Phillips, Chop Robinson, and Bradley Chubb. Linebackers Tyrel Dodson, Jordyn Brooks, and Willie Gay Jr give Miami a solid front seven, but the big concern is the secondary. Miami will have the talented Minkah Fitzpatrick in the defensive backfield, but the remainder of the secondary is untested and inexperienced.
Colts Preview
The Indianapolis Colts finished 8-9 last season and were second in the AFC South. Indianapolis announced that off-season acquisition Daniel Jones will start at quarterback ahead of Anthony Richardson. The Colts have a strong running back in Jonathan Taylor and a talented wide receiver and Michael Pittman Jr, but the offensive line must improve from last season.
The defensive line is the strength of the Indianapolis Colts, ranking in the top 10 in spending on edge rushers and interior linemen. Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner is the anchor of the front line, while defensive end Samson Ebukam and Kwity Paye are solid veterans. Offseason signings and the draft have also added to the talent on the front line for the defense.
Dolphins vs Colts Pick
The Miami Dolphins won't have plenty of talent in the skill positions and should win in Week 1 against an Indianapolis side that has a starting quarterback who did not live up to expectations with the New York Giants and becomes the 11th different starting quarterback since 2019 when Andrew Luck retired. Miami will make enough stops on defense and behind QB Tua Tagovailoa will win. Final Score Prediction: Miami Dolphins win and cover ATS 24-20.
