Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets Picks and Predictions for Sunday October 25 2026
The Dolphins have had two weeks to figure out how to win a football game. That’s a pretty long time to sit around thinking about an 0-5 start. Now they’re headed to New Jersey to face the Jets, who aren’t exactly setting the league on fire themselves. New York has two wins. Miami has none. And somehow the Jets are being asked to cover more than a field goal. That seems like a lot of faith in an offense that hasn’t been doing much scoring.
Miami visits MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Kickoff is at 1:00 PM ET on CBS. The Jets are favored by 4.5 points, with the total at 39.5. This is Miami’s first AFC East game of the season. You can find more matchups on our free NFL picks page.
Miami Dolphins Have Had Two Weeks To Think About This Mess
Miami is 0-5. The Dolphins lost 31-24 to Cincinnati before their bye, which was at least a better offensive showing than the previous four games. They scored 13 against Las Vegas, 13 against San Francisco, ten against Kansas City, and ten against Minnesota. That’s not going to win many Sundays. The Bengals game offered a little hope, but giving up 31 points made sure Miami still went home without a victory.
The Dolphins average 14 points and allow 26.4. They’ve been getting about 280 yards of offense a game, with most of the better work coming on the ground. The passing game has been a problem. Miami can’t keep asking its defense to hold opponents down while the offense goes three-and-out. Against the Jets, the Dolphins ought to be able to run the ball some. New York hasn’t been particularly strong against the run, and Miami has averaged 4.9 yards per carry. That’s where I’d start if I were calling plays.

Malik Willis has thrown for 849 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions. That’s not much production through five games. Ollie Gordon II has rushed for 236 yards, and Malik Washington leads the receivers with 262. De’Von Achane is out with a torn ACL, which takes away a big part of what Miami wanted to do offensively. The Dolphins need Gordon to get something going, because asking Willis to throw 35 times against this Jets pass rush sounds like a good way to spend the afternoon punting.
New York Jets Aren’t Exactly Lighting Up The Scoreboard
The Jets are 2-4 after losing 26-19 to New England on Sunday. They’d beaten Cleveland 17-12 the week before, but that didn’t turn into much of a winning streak. New York has been competitive in most of its games, which is more than Miami can say. Still, the offense has been a grind. The Jets have scored 17 or fewer points in three of their last four games. That’s why I’m having trouble getting excited about laying 4.5 with them.
New York averages 18.7 points and allows 20.3. The defense has been doing its share, especially against the pass. The Jets have been getting pressure on quarterbacks, and they’ve been much better at stopping the pass than the run. Miami should test that front with Gordon. On the other side, New York needs to find a way to run the ball. The Jets have averaged fewer than four yards per carry, and the offense gets pretty predictable when everything falls on Geno Smith.
Smith has thrown for 1,336 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception. He’s done a decent job protecting the ball, which matters when your offense isn’t scoring much. Garrett Wilson has 418 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and David Bailey has five sacks. Breece Hall is dealing with a quadriceps injury, while Adonai Mitchell has a finger injury and Dylan Parham has been bothered by a knee problem. If Hall can’t go, the Jets lose a big part of their running game. That’s not something they can afford when they’re already struggling to score.
Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets Picks and Predictions
Miami Dolphins +4.5 (-110)
I’m taking Miami and the 4.5 points. I know, betting on an 0-5 team isn’t exactly a comfortable feeling. The Dolphins have been awful offensively, and Willis has thrown twice as many interceptions as touchdowns. But the Jets aren’t scoring enough to make me want to lay more than a field goal. New York has managed 18.7 points a game, and its running game has been shaky. Miami has had a bye week to get ready, and the Dolphins should be able to move the ball on the ground. The Jets might win this game. I wouldn’t be surprised. But I see something like a field-goal finish, and I’ll take the points.
Under 39.5 Points (-110)
Give me under 39.5. Miami averages 14 points. New York averages 18.7. That’s 32.7 combined, and neither offense has shown much ability to put together a full afternoon of good football. The Jets have a decent pass rush, and Willis has struggled throwing the ball. Miami should try to run it, which helps keep the clock moving. New York will probably do the same if Hall is healthy enough to play. A defensive touchdown or a couple of short fields could wreck this bet, especially with two offenses that have been turning mistakes into trouble. But I don’t see a shootout here. Jets 20, Dolphins 17 sounds about right.
Final Picks: Miami Dolphins +4.5 (-110) and Under 39.5 Points (-110)
