The New York Jets head to the Caesars Superdome to face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, December 21, with the opening kickoff at 1:00 PM ET on CBS. New Orleans is a 4.5-point favorite at home, with the total sitting at 40.5 and the Saints priced at -218 on the moneyline while the Jets are +180. Jets Preview

New York is 3-11 overall and 1-5 on the road, and the last five games have been rough, with four losses, including a 48-20 loss at Jacksonville and a 34-10 loss to Miami. Due to injuries to Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor, New York started rookie QB Brady Cook against Jacksonville. Cook has 339 yards passing with one touchdown pass and five interceptions. It is unknown at this time if Cook will start Sunday or if Taylor or Fields will be able to return. Breece Hall has 900 rushing yards on 213 carries, while leading receiver Garrett Wilson is on IR after leading the team with 395 receiving yards and four scores.

Saints Preview

New Orleans is 4-10 and 2-5 at home, but the Saints have won three of the last five and just handled Carolina 20-17 after beating Tampa Bay 24-20. Spencer Rattler has 1,586 passing yards with an 8-to-5 TD-to-INT line, and Chris Olave is the clear top target with 896 yards and six touchdowns on 82 catches. New Orleans still needs better production on the ground. Alvin Kamara has 471 rushing yards and one rushing TD.

I’m backing New Orleans to win and cover the current number, mainly because the Saints have more reliable passing, and it is not known who will be under center for New York. The Jets can keep it close if, behind Hall, they can establish a running game, but the offense has been too inconsistent in recent weeks to be trusted as a road underdog.
