SGP for Monday Night Football (+471 on FanDuel)
-
Bears +1.5
-
JJ McCarthy Under 220 Passing Yards
-
Caleb Williams Under 21.5 Rushing Yards
Bears +1.5 at Home
The Bears enter this divisional showdown as short underdogs, and we see real value in taking them with the points.
Rookie head coach Ben Johnson has already built a reputation as an offensive innovator, and his debut could showcase the kind of creativity that keeps Minnesota’s defense off balance. Meanwhile, the Vikings’ offense still has plenty to prove after fading late last year, making Chicago the side to back.
JJ McCarthy Under 220 Passing Yards
The spotlight will be bright on JJ McCarthy in his first NFL start, but expectations may be too high.
Oddsmakers have set his passing line at 220 yards, and that number feels inflated. Chicago’s secondary has improved and should force McCarthy into check-downs and tough third-down situations. Add in the nerves of a rookie debut in a hostile environment, and it’s hard to envision McCarthy lighting up the stat sheet.
With accuracy concerns dating back to college, we expect him to stay well under this number.
Caleb Williams Under 21.5 Rushing Yards
While Caleb Williams is best known for his ability to extend plays, he rarely turns those scrambles into big rushing totals. Last season, he topped 20 rushing yards just twice, and he closed the year with 11 straight games under this total.
The Vikings’ defense has made containing quarterbacks on the ground a point of emphasis, and their front seven is capable of limiting Williams’ escape lanes. At 21.5 yards, the under is the sharper side, aligning with his overall trend and the defensive matchup.
