Philadelphia Eagles at Baltimore Ravens Picks and Prediction for Saturday, August 15, 2026

By: Garrett Beaverson Published 08/14/2026, 08:36 PM ET

M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore hosts the primetime Saturday night preseason opener at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN as the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles visit the Baltimore Ravens in a matchup loaded with institutional subplots. After 18 seasons under John Harbaugh, the Baltimore Ravens go in a new direction starting Saturday night — Baltimore plays its first preseason game under first-year coach Jesse Minter, a 42-year-old former Chargers defensive coordinator who had also been a Ravens defensive assistant from 2017 to 2020. On the other sideline, Nick Sirianni enters year six with the Eagles and comes off a Super Bowl LIX championship — and brings with him a preseason philosophy that has produced one of the worst preseason records among active head coaches. The line has moved a full point in the road favorite's direction since opening — a market signal that demands attention heading into Saturday night in Baltimore. Eagles: Super Bowl Champions, But Sirianni's Preseason Record Is a Warning Sign

The Philadelphia Eagles arrive at M&T Bank Stadium as defending Super Bowl champions, the NFC's most complete roster, and the league's most recognized brand of winning football under Sirianni's first five seasons — 65 wins in his first five seasons, tied for third-most all-time with Don Shula. None of that regular-season pedigree translates to Saturday's preseason opener, however, because Sirianni's preseason approach has always been fundamentally different from his regular-season one. Sirianni's teams have historically been among the worst in the league at winning preseason games because the head coach doesn't prioritize exhibition results over roster evaluation and player protection.

With Hurts likely sitting, the quarterback position will be manned this game by the uninspiring trio of Andy Dalton, Tanner McKee and Cole Payton. That three-quarterback depth chart — a Super Bowl winner's backup tier operating without the starters that make the Eagles' offense elite — is the most honest description of what Philadelphia's preseason offensive unit looks like in a vacuum. Philadelphia saw its wide receiver position group lose much of its depth and star power over the offseason. While the offensive line starters are set, the backup spots are still in flux. The line move from Eagles -2.5 to -3.5 reflects public money chasing the Super Bowl champion's name rather than any meaningful analysis of which backup quarterbacks are about to play four quarters at M&T Bank Stadium.

Ravens: Minter's Debut, New Offensive Line, Andrews Sitting Out

Jesse Minter is making his NFL head coaching debut on Saturday. This is his first game in charge at any level in the NFL. The transition from Harbaugh's 18-season reign — which produced a 48-16 preseason record including 24 consecutive preseason wins — to a first-time NFL head coach is the single most consequential organizational context for Saturday's game. New NFL coaches generally struggle in their first preseason. The current roster of 32 NFL head coaches are 294-299 in preseason games but were 34-52 — a .395 winning percentage — in their first preseasons. That 34-52 first-preseason record for new head coaches is the most damning single data point against the Ravens on Saturday, and it runs directly against the Harbaugh-era preseason dominance that the M&T Bank Stadium atmosphere might tempt bettors to overcredit.

Baltimore has rebuilt its offensive line. We'll likely see Emery Jones, Carson Vinson — combined 12 NFL games and no starts — and undrafted Corey Bullock — 16 games, no starts — very early for the Ravens, which spells trouble for the offense. With tight end Mark Andrews sitting out, the line won't get much help from that position either. The Ravens' offensive line depth represents the starkest personnel limitation on either roster — three players with a combined zero career starts projected to man the front in the first quarter. The Ravens had the fewest passing targets and fewest completions in the entire NFL in 2025 — they're a heavy run team, and that's not going away under a defensive-minded head coach. Combine that with both teams' new offensive coordinators running vanilla play-calling, and the case for a low-scoring, cautiously managed Saturday night game is overwhelming.

Eagles vs. Ravens Picks

  • Money Line Pick: Baltimore Ravens

This line opened with the Eagles as 2.5-point favorites and has been bet up a full point to Eagles -3.5. Preseason spreads that move a full point in the road favorite's direction tend to create value on the home team getting points. A new head coach making his NFL debut in front of a home crowd at M&T Bank Stadium will have his team motivated in a way that Sirianni's typically vanilla preseason approach will not match. The first-preseason coaching record of 34-52 for new NFL head coaches is the most relevant number on the board, and Minter's familiarity with this building as a former Ravens defensive assistant gives him a psychological home-turf edge that his first-game inexperience partially offsets. Take Baltimore.

  • Over/Under Pick: Under 37.5

The Ravens had the fewest passing targets and fewest completions in the entire NFL in 2025 — they're a heavy run team, and that's not going away under a defensive-minded head coach. Combine that with the Eagles running a first-year OC's vanilla play-calling, and the case for the Under is legitimate. Two teams with new offensive coordinators, backup quarterbacks anchoring both offenses, a Ravens offensive line with zero combined career starts among three projected starters, and a defensive-minded new head coach in Minter who will want to establish the Ravens' defensive identity from his first snap in charge — all of these factors compress the scoring ceiling well below 37.5.
