Tennessee Titans vs Indianapolis Colts Picks and Predictions for Sunday October 18 2026
The Tennessee Titans visit the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET on FOX. Tennessee is still looking for its first victory after getting embarrassed 26-3 by Houston last weekend. Indianapolis isn’t having a particularly enjoyable season either. The Colts lost 34-22 to Pittsburgh, spending much of the afternoon watching their kicker do the scoring. Indianapolis is favored by 6.5 points, and the total is sitting at 43.5. Lucas Oil Stadium has a retractable roof, although the team hasn’t made a decision about opening it. I’ve been looking at this matchup, and one thing keeps bothering me. The Colts aren’t good enough defensively to deserve much confidence laying points. But Tennessee hasn’t scored enough to make me believe it can take advantage. It’s quite a situation when you’re considering a team with a losing record as the clear favorite. Yet here we are. Make sure you check out all of our free NFL picks.
Tennessee Titans Have Plenty To Figure Out
Tennessee is 0-5 on the season and has lost both road games. The Titans were hoping to get things moving in the right direction against Houston last Sunday. Instead, they gave the Texans their first victory of the year. The 26-3 final was ugly enough, but watching the game told an even worse story. Tennessee kicked a field goal on its opening possession and didn’t score again. There were dropped passes, penalties, and a quarterback who spent far too much time trying to escape defenders. A week earlier, Tennessee had shown a little life in a 24-18 loss to Baltimore. I thought that might be something for Robert Saleh to build on. Apparently not. Houston came into Nashville without a win and made the Titans look completely overmatched. Tennessee has also lost to the Jets, Eagles, and Giants. It’s been a long first five weeks, and I imagine the players are getting tired of hearing about how they need to improve.
The Titans average 11.6 points per game. That’s the worst scoring offense in football, and it isn’t close to what a team needs to compete every Sunday. Tennessee has gained 1,232 total offensive yards, averaging 246.4 per game. The running attack has produced 413 yards, or 82.6 each week. That’s not enough to make life comfortable for a young quarterback. Defensively, Tennessee allows 21.8 points and 331.8 yards per game. Those numbers aren’t wonderful, but I wouldn’t put most of the blame on the defense. Houston managed 26 points last Sunday, yet Tennessee’s offense kept giving the ball back without accomplishing much. The Titans finished with 187 yards, and their longest play gained only 17. Think about that for a moment. An NFL offense went an entire afternoon without gaining 18 yards on a single play. Indianapolis has been giving up nearly 28 points a game, so there’s an opportunity here. I’d feel better about Tennessee taking it if the Titans had shown they could move the ball against anybody lately.
Cam Ward has thrown for 896 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. He’s completed 63.2% of his passes, which sounds respectable until you look at how few points the Titans are scoring. Ward passed for 170 yards against Houston and was sacked four times. Some of that falls on him, but I wouldn’t want to play quarterback behind the protection he got Sunday. Tony Pollard has rushed for 273 yards and a touchdown on 68 carries. His four yards per attempt aren’t terrible, although Tennessee hasn’t been able to get much going consistently on the ground. Carnell Tate leads the receivers with 23 catches for 274 yards. He’s also dealing with a back problem, so his availability matters. The Titans have been monitoring injuries to Amani Hooker, David Martin-Robinson, and Joshua Williams. Pollard has also appeared on the injury report with a foot issue. None of that makes Saleh’s job any easier. Tennessee needs a healthier lineup, but even more than that, the Titans need somebody to make a play when the offense gets stuck.

Indianapolis Colts Need Touchdowns Instead Of Field Goals
Indianapolis comes into Sunday at 2-3, with one victory in two home games. The Colts had a miserable time finishing drives against Pittsburgh last weekend. They lost 34-22 despite getting into scoring position repeatedly. Spencer Shrader kicked five field goals. Five. I suppose that’s a pleasant afternoon for the kicker, but Shane Steichen couldn’t have been thrilled. Indianapolis had opportunities to make the game much closer and kept walking away with three points. Pittsburgh didn’t have that problem. The Steelers scored on plays of 80 and 50 yards, and the Colts never managed to recover. Indianapolis had beaten Washington 30-13 the week before, following a 19-17 victory over Houston. Those wins came after an 0-2 start against Baltimore and Kansas City. I’ve watched teams that were worse than these Colts manage to reach the playoffs. The talent is there. They just haven’t been putting together four good quarters very often, and the defense has been giving away too much.
Indianapolis averages 24.8 points per game, which looks pretty good beside Tennessee’s 11.6. The Colts have gained 1,469 total offensive yards through five games, averaging 293.8 per contest. Their running game has produced 504 yards, or 100.8 each week. That’s hardly an overwhelming rushing attack, but Jonathan Taylor has made his opportunities near the goal line count. The defense is where things get uncomfortable. Indianapolis is allowing 27.6 points and 384.2 yards per game. The Colts have collected 10 sacks and just one interception. That’s a lot of yardage to give away, especially when you’re not creating many turnovers. Pittsburgh had an easy time finding room for big plays Sunday. I don’t expect Tennessee to suddenly start doing the same thing, although Indianapolis can’t keep making those mistakes against better teams. The Colts have enough offense to put points on the board. Their problem is that opponents have been doing it almost as easily.
Daniel Jones has passed for 1,021 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions. He’s completing 61.4% of his throws. That’s not the sort of production that makes opposing defensive coordinators nervous, but he has managed to keep the Colts moving at times. Jones threw for 267 yards against Pittsburgh without a touchdown or an interception. He didn’t play terribly. Indianapolis just couldn’t finish. Jonathan Taylor leads the running game with 398 yards and six touchdowns on 101 carries. Pittsburgh held him to 45 yards last weekend, and the Colts missed that production badly. Josh Downs has caught 20 passes for 249 yards, while rookie tight end Tyler Warren has become an important target. Warren caught seven passes for 83 yards against the Steelers and scored the team’s only touchdown on a short run. Indianapolis is also dealing with injuries. Arden Key is on injured reserve with a hamstring problem, Jaylon Carlies has been bothered by his ribs, and Ashton Dulin and Darius Slayton have had injuries of their own. Keenan Allen has also appeared on the injury report. I expect Taylor to get plenty of work Sunday. The Colts need him, especially when Jones isn’t getting the ball into the end zone.
Tennessee Titans vs Indianapolis Colts Picks and Predictions
Against the Spread Pick: Indianapolis Colts -6.5
I’m taking Indianapolis laying 6.5 points. I don’t particularly enjoy giving nearly a touchdown with a 2-3 football team, especially one allowing 27.6 points per game. The Colts have made too many mistakes defensively, and Jones hasn’t exactly been lighting up the scoreboard. But I keep coming back to what Tennessee did against Houston. Three points. The Titans managed 187 yards and gave Ward very little chance to get comfortable. Indianapolis doesn’t have a great defense, but Tennessee hasn’t been able to take advantage of anybody. The Colts also have Taylor, who’s rushed for six touchdowns despite averaging less than four yards per carry. He struggled against Pittsburgh, but I’d expect him to be a bigger part of Sunday’s offense. Tennessee can keep this close if its defense plays well and Indianapolis settles for field goals again. That’s the part that worries me. Five field goals against Pittsburgh were a reminder that the Colts aren’t always reliable near the goal line. Still, Tennessee has to score to cover, and I’m not convinced the Titans can put together enough drives to make Indianapolis uncomfortable. I’ll take the Colts -6.5.
Total Pick: Under 43.5 Points
Under 43.5 is my other pick. Tennessee has scored 58 points in five games. That works out to 11.6 a week, and the Titans just managed three at home against Houston. Ward is getting pressured, Pollard hasn’t been able to get the running game going, and the offense has been spending far too much time watching the punter walk onto the field. Indianapolis should have more success moving the football. The Colts average 24.8 points, and Tennessee’s defense can’t be expected to hold up forever when the offense keeps giving the ball away. I’m a little concerned about Indianapolis doing most of the scoring itself. The Colts have enough talent to get into the 30s if Taylor has a big afternoon and the Titans start making mistakes. There’s also that Indianapolis defense allowing 27.6 points per game. A couple of blown coverages could make this closer to the total than I’d like. But Tennessee hasn’t shown much ability to produce big plays, and the Colts have been settling for field goals too often. I think Indianapolis will control the game without turning it into a scoring contest. A 27-10 Colts victory wouldn’t surprise me. I’ll take Under 43.5 points.
Final Picks: Indianapolis Colts -6.5 and Under 43.5 Points.
