Washington Commanders Analysis

Washington rolled in the opener behind quarterback Jayden Daniels, who went 19-of-30 for 233 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. The ground game was led by Jacory Croskey-Merritt with 10 carries for 82 yards and one touchdown, and Deebo Samuel led the receivers with seven grabs for 77 yards. Bobby Wagner had 10 tackles, while Daron Payne notched a sack as the front four controlled the line of scrimmage.

Sustaining that on the road at Lambeau will be a challenge. Daniels was sacked three times, and Green Bay’s pass rushers are a step up from New York’s. The Commanders’ special teams are worth looking at with punter Tress Way listed as questionable (back), which could create field position problems for the Commanders. Washington’s recent run-heavy game plan helps eat up the clock on the road.

Green Bay Packers Analysis

Green Bay looked sharp in Week 1 with Jordan Love completing 72.7% (16-of-22) for 188 yards and two touchdowns, posting a 128.6 rating. Josh Jacobs had 19 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown, and Romeo Doubs made the explosive play of the day with a 48-yard catch as part of his 68-yard total. Edgerrin Cooper led the defense with 12 tackles, while Rashan Gary had 1.5 sacks, showcasing a front that can collapse pockets without the need for blitzing.

The Packers’ offense is strong through one game. Love protected the ball, got it out quickly, and let his playmakers work after the catch, which will neutralize Washington’s pass rush. On the other side, Green Bay’s edge pressure against a mobile rookie who already took three sacks sets up favorably for the Packers. Keep an eye on right tackle Zach Tom (hip, questionable); if he’s good, Green Bay’s pass protection holds up, and even if limited, the quick-game and Jacobs’ work between the tackles can keep the chains moving.

Commanders at Packers Pick

Love’s distribution of the offense, and the Packers' strength rushing the passer, will carry Green Bay to the win. Washington’s run-first approach will keep the game close, but not enough for a win. Green Bay will pull away late in the second half. Final Score Prediction: Green Bay Packers win and cover ATS 27-21.
