Brighton & Hove Albion vs Crystal Palace Picks and Predictions for Sunday October 18 2026
Crystal Palace heads down to Brighton on Sunday, October 18, 2026, for a Premier League match at the American Express Stadium. Kickoff is set for 9:00 AM ET. Brighton just beat Sunderland 2-0, while Palace picked up a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest. Brighton is favored around -163, with Palace getting +430 and the draw at +340. The total I’m looking at is 3.5 goals. I’m taking Brighton. They’ve been playing some terrific football, and Palace hasn’t been nearly as good defensively. But this is a rivalry match. I don’t care what the standings say. These two would love nothing more than to ruin each other’s Sunday. I just think Brighton has more going for it right now.
Brighton Are Giving Supporters Plenty To Enjoy
Brighton has 13 points from six league matches and is sitting third in the table. Four wins, one draw and one loss. Not bad at all. The Seagulls went to Sunderland last Saturday and won 2-0, even after losing a man in the second half. That’s a good win. Brighton also beat Arsenal 3-0 before that and hammered Coventry 5-0. Four straight league victories. Fabian Hürzeler has to be happy with the way things are going. The players are finishing chances, the defense has been doing its job, and even a red card didn’t stop them last weekend. Palace will try to make this uncomfortable, but Brighton is coming in with plenty of confidence.
Brighton has allowed only five goals in six league matches. Less than one per game. I like that. The Seagulls also have two straight clean sheets, and they haven’t been giving opponents many easy chances lately. They’ve scored ten goals in their last three league matches, so the attack hasn’t been quiet either. It’s a pretty good combination. Palace has allowed 12 goals in six matches, which is a much different story. Brighton should have chances, especially if Palace keeps leaving room on the counterattack. The one thing I’d be careful about is expecting another easy win. Palace has enough attacking talent to make a mess of things, and rivalry matches don’t always go the way they’re supposed to.
Maxim De Cuyper has scored twice and created eleven chances. He’s been one of Brighton’s better attacking players. Charalampos Kostoulas and Malick Yalcouyé also have two goals apiece, so the scoring hasn’t depended on one man. Pascal Groß has been creating chances, too, but he’ll miss this one after the red card against Sunderland. That’s a real loss. Brighton also has injuries. Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson, Stefanos Tzimas, Yankuba Minteh and Mats Wieffer are among those unavailable, while a few others are doubtful. That’s a fair amount of missing talent. But Brighton has been winning despite those problems. I wouldn’t suddenly lose faith in the team because of one suspension.

Crystal Palace Need More Than One Good Afternoon
Palace has seven points through six league matches and is sitting in the bottom half of the table. Last Sunday was a good one, though. The Eagles beat Nottingham Forest 3-1, coming back after conceding in the third minute. Daichi Kamada got the equalizer, Jefferson Lerma put Palace ahead, and Yéremy Pino finished things off in the second half. Three goals. Nice response. But Forest had chances, too. Palace’s goalkeeper had to make some important saves, and that’s what would bother me heading into Brighton. The Eagles have had trouble keeping opponents out all season. It’s hard enough going to Brighton when you’re defending well. Going there with a shaky back line? Not ideal.
Palace has allowed 12 goals in six league matches. Two per game. Brighton has conceded five. That’s quite a gap. The Eagles have managed a scoreless draw against Leeds, so they can defend when everything’s working. But they’ve also given up three to Ipswich, and Nottingham Forest had some good opportunities Sunday despite scoring only once. Palace is dangerous on the counterattack, and that could matter against a Brighton team that likes to push forward. But somebody has to keep Brighton’s attackers from getting comfortable around the penalty area. Palace hasn’t done a great job of that lately. I’d expect the visitors to spend a fair amount of time defending.
Kamada has been useful creating chances and has three league assists. He also scored against Forest. Pino got on the scoresheet Sunday, and Ismaïla Sarr gives Palace another player who can cause trouble with his pace. There’s talent here. The problem is availability. Jean-Philippe Mateta and Dean Henderson have been dealing with fitness concerns, while Takehiro Tomiyasu is another doubt. Axel Disasi is suspended, and Chadi Riad is injured. That’s missing help at the back, which is the last place Palace needs more trouble. I’d want to see the team sheet before placing a large bet. If Palace gets its key attackers healthy, it can score. But I’m not sure the defense holds up for the full match.
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Crystal Palace Picks and Predictions
Moneyline Pick: Brighton -163
I’m taking Brighton at -163. Four straight wins, 13 points and only five goals conceded. That’s a team playing good football. Palace just beat Forest, and good for them. But Forest had chances, and Palace has allowed 12 goals in six matches. Brighton has been a lot better at both ends lately. The thing that makes me nervous is the rivalry. Palace could show up, defend like its life depends on it and steal a goal on the break. That wouldn’t shock me. Brighton also has a long injury list and a suspension to deal with. But the Seagulls have handled those problems pretty well so far. I’ll stick with the home team.
Total Pick: Under 3.5 Goals (-170)
I’ll take Under 3.5 goals. Brighton has been scoring lately, so I know there’s a chance it does most of the damage by itself. Five against Coventry, three against Arsenal and two against Sunderland. But the defense has been excellent. Just five conceded in six league matches. Palace has attacking players who can cause problems, but Brighton hasn’t been giving up many easy goals lately. I think the Eagles will spend more time defending than attacking Sunday. The worry is Palace’s back line. If Brighton scores twice early, this could get away from the visitors. But I don’t see Palace contributing enough for a four-goal match unless things get really messy. I’m thinking 2-0 Brighton. Maybe 2-1 if Palace sneaks one. Give me the under.
Final Picks: Brighton Moneyline -163 and Under 3.5 Goals (-170).
