Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United Picks and Predictions for Sunday October 25 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/21/2026, 11:30 PM ET

If you watched Palace at Brighton last weekend, you probably wanted to turn it off before halftime. They were three goals down inside ten minutes and eventually lost 5-0. That’s a horrible afternoon, especially against a rival. Newcastle supporters won’t have much sympathy. Their lot just lost 1-0 at home to Aston Villa, a week after Coventry put four past them.

So we’ve got two clubs trying to put a miserable result behind them. Somebody’s going to leave Selhurst Park feeling a little better. Or they’ll draw and everybody can carry on complaining.

Crystal Palace hosts Newcastle United at Selhurst Park in London on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 AM ET. Newcastle are around +135 on the three-way moneyline, Palace are +185, and the draw is +265. The total is 2.5 goals. Get in on all the action with our free soccer picks.

Crystal Palace Need To Forget About Brighton

Palace had beaten Nottingham Forest 3-1 before that trip to Brighton, so there was at least some reason for optimism. Then everything fell apart. An early own goal got Brighton started, Diego Gómez scored from an outrageous distance, and Palace were 3-0 down before they’d settled into the match. Brighton eventually won 5-0. Pierre Sage has a difficult job this week because his players need to recover mentally as much as anything else.

Palace have shown they can attack when they get into a rhythm. The trouble is what happens when opponents start running at their defense. Brighton found enormous gaps, and Newcastle will have watched that game carefully. Palace can’t afford another frantic opening ten minutes. They need to get the ball into midfield, keep possession for a while, and make Newcastle work rather than handing them chances.

Tyrick Mitchell has two league goals and has created five chances, while Daichi Kamada has a goal and three assists. Yéremy Pino has been involved in creating opportunities too. Jean-Philippe Mateta is a fitness doubt, which matters because Palace need somebody who can hold the ball up and finish chances. Axel Disasi is suspended, Chadi Riad is injured, and Dean Henderson, Ben Chilwell, and Takehiro Tomiyasu have also had fitness concerns. That’s a fair amount of uncertainty before facing Newcastle.

Newcastle United Have Problems Of Their Own

Newcastle lost 1-0 to Aston Villa last Saturday, and it came after that embarrassing 4-1 defeat at Coventry. Two losses, five goals conceded, and very little to celebrate. Matthias Jaissle’s side haven’t been playing with the confidence you’d expect. They can look dangerous going forward, but the defending has been far too easy to get through at times.

The Villa match was especially frustrating because Newcastle were at home and couldn’t find a goal. That’s where the concern starts for me. Palace have just conceded five, so Newcastle should be able to create chances. But having opportunities and putting the ball away are different things. If Newcastle can’t score against a Palace defense missing players, they’ll have nobody to blame but themselves.

Joe Willock has two league goals from 16 shots, while Harvey Barnes has created 13 chances. Newcastle will need both involved. Jacob Ramsey and Anthony Elanga are injured, as are Valentino Livramento and Ewen Jaouen. Those absences reduce Jaissle’s choices, particularly when he needs fresh legs late in a match. Newcastle have enough talent to win at Selhurst Park, but recent performances haven’t given me much confidence in them.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United Picks and Predictions

Crystal Palace Moneyline (+185)

I’m taking Palace at home. That 5-0 defeat was dreadful, and there’s every chance Newcastle exploit the same defensive problems. But Newcastle have just lost to Coventry and Villa, and I don’t see much reason to make them favorites on the road. Palace were good enough to beat Forest before the Brighton disaster. If Sage gets a response from his players, +185 looks worth considering. I wouldn’t go near this one at a short price. At nearly 2-to-1, I’ll take the home side.

Over 2.5 Goals (-162)

Neither defense has earned much trust lately. Palace conceded five to Brighton, while Newcastle allowed four against Coventry. The concern is that Newcastle failed to score against Villa, but Palace have been generous enough to offer them opportunities. I’m expecting both clubs to come out looking for a response rather than spend the afternoon defending a draw. Palace 2, Newcastle 1.

Final Picks: Crystal Palace Moneyline (+185) and Over 2.5 Goals (-162)
