Hull City vs Ipswich Town Picks and Predictions for Saturday October 31 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/30/2026, 08:04 PM ET

Hull beat Manchester United on opening day, and for a little while it looked like the Tigers might surprise everybody. Then the wins stopped coming. They haven’t won a league game since August 29.

Ipswich hasn’t exactly been setting the world on fire either, but there’s something I like about this matchup for the visitors. They’ve beaten Hull in four of their last five meetings, and they arrive with a healthier squad. In a game between two clubs separated by almost nothing in the standings, that matters.

Hull hosts Ipswich at MKM Stadium on Saturday, October 31, with kickoff at 11:00 AM ET. The three-way moneyline is nearly even, with both clubs around +165 and the draw near +245. Over 2.5 goals is around -120. I’m taking a chance on Ipswich to win. Get into the action with all of our free soccer picks.

Hull City Has Been Living on Draws

Hull is 2-4-2 with ten points, good for tenth in the Premier League. That’s a decent position for a promoted club, but the recent results aren’t particularly exciting. The Tigers drew 1-1 with Brentford last weekend, lost 1-0 to Fulham, and drew 2-2 with Everton before that. They’ve also taken points off Chelsea and Aston Villa. Hull can compete. The problem is finding a way to turn those competitive performances into victories.

The Tigers have scored enough to stay in games, but they’re not creating chances consistently. The last five league results include three draws and two defeats. That’s not a team playing badly enough to dismiss, but it isn’t one I’d rush to back either. Ipswich has had defensive problems of its own, so Hull should get opportunities. I just don’t trust the home side to finish enough of them.

The injury list is another concern. Charlie Hughes, Darko Gyabi, Eliot Matazo and Matt Targett are unavailable, while Jack Butland and Nobel Mendy have been dealing with fitness problems. That’s a lot of disruption. Hull has been relying on its remaining players to keep things together, and they’ve done a respectable job. But Ipswich is much closer to full strength, and I think that becomes important as the game goes on.

Ipswich Town Has a Chance to Move Up

Ipswich is 3-1-4 with ten points, sitting two places below Hull. The Tractor Boys drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest last time out, lost 3-2 to Manchester City before that, and beat Fulham 2-1 earlier in October. That’s a mixed set of results, but I like that Ipswich has shown it can create chances against decent opposition. Scoring twice at Manchester City isn’t easy, even if the result was a loss.

The problem for Ipswich has been keeping opponents out. The club has a minus-four goal difference, and that’s why it hasn’t climbed higher. But against Hull, Ipswich won’t be facing the same level of attacking quality it saw at Manchester City or Arsenal. The visitors should have more time on the ball and more chances to get forward. If they defend the wide areas properly, I think they can take control of stretches of this match.

Julio Enciso gives Ipswich creativity in attacking midfield, while Leif Davis provides another route forward from the left. Emersonn is an option up front. Jack Taylor is unavailable, and Sasa Lukic is a fitness concern, but the visitors have fewer injury problems than Hull. Ipswich also won both Championship meetings last season. Different league, different circumstances, but it tells me this matchup hasn’t been particularly comfortable for the Tigers.

Hull City vs Ipswich Town Picks and Predictions

Ipswich Town Moneyline (+165)

I’m taking Ipswich at the plus-money price. Hull hasn’t won since August, and that long injury list isn’t helping. Ipswich hasn’t been consistent either, so I understand why the market has this almost even. But the visitors have more options available, they’ve shown they can score against stronger opposition, and they’ve had Hull’s number in recent meetings. A draw is a real possibility. Hull has already had four of them. But if somebody is going to find a late winner, I like Ipswich.

Over 2.5 Goals (-120)

I’ll take Over 2.5. Neither defense has been completely reliable, and both teams should see this as a chance to pick up three points. Hull can’t keep settling for draws, while Ipswich has been giving opponents too many opportunities. I think we get a more open game than the standings might suggest. The danger is both clubs playing cautiously because they don’t want to lose to another promoted side. But I can see Ipswich winning 2-1, which gets us over the number.

Final Picks: Ipswich Town Moneyline (+165) and Over 2.5 Goals (-120)
