AT&T Stadium in Arlington hosts a fascinating Round of 32 clash at 1:00 PM ET as Ivory Coast and Norway meet with a place in the Round of 16 on the line, where either Brazil awaits the winner. Ivory Coast reached the knockout stage for the first time in their history after finishing second in Group E, a disciplined 1-0 win over Ecuador, a stoppage-time 2-1 defeat to Germany, and a confident 2-0 victory over Curaçao secured six points and the runner-up spot behind a German side that has dominated the group. Norway are back at the World Cup for the first time since 1998, finishing second in Group I behind France with wins over Iraq (4-1) and Senegal (3-2) before a heavily rotated lineup fell 4-1 to the French with qualification already secure. Read on to find out who advances in our Ivory Coast vs. Norway prediction. Get our top World Cup Predictions and increase your bankroll!

Norway: Haaland's Tournament-Best Form, Rested and Ready

Erling Haaland has been Norway's standout performer at this World Cup, scoring four goals in his first two matches and putting himself firmly in the Golden Boot race. Haaland was rested entirely for the France defeat alongside Martin Ødegaard and several other key starters, a tactical decision by Ståle Solbakken that sacrificed nothing meaningful in the standings since qualification was already secured, and it means Norway's first-choice attacking unit arrives in Arlington fresh rather than fatigued from a third consecutive group game.

Ødegaard continues to dictate play from midfield and remains the creative hub through whom Norway's attacking machine operates, his vision and passing range give Solbakken's side a different gear once they get into the final third, supported by the pace of Antonio Nusa and Oscar Bobb on the flanks and Alexander Sørloth offering a physical second option alongside Haaland centrally. Norway scored seven goals across their two competitive group matches against Iraq and Senegal, with Haaland directly involved in the majority of that production, a level of attacking efficiency that few defenses at this World Cup have been equipped to handle.

The lingering concern is defensive: Norway conceded seven goals across their three group games, and the France match in particular exposed clear frailties at the back when an elite side committed to attacking with intent. Ivory Coast carry real individual quality in behind that back line, and the matchup between Haaland's movement up top and the Ivorian central defensive pairing of Evan Ndicka and Odilon Kossounou, both experienced at the top level of European club football with Roma and Atalanta, will be the single most important individual battle of the afternoon.

Ivory Coast: Historic Run Continues

Ivory Coast have made history simply by reaching this stage, the furthest the Elephants have ever advanced at a World Cup, and Emerse Faé's side will not want to stop here. Their group-stage campaign showed defensive organization: a disciplined win over Ecuador, a performance against Germany that saw them push the eventual group winners all the way before a stoppage-time goal settled it, and a confident, clean 2-0 win over Curaçao sealed by a Nicolas Pépé brace.

One of Ivory Coast's biggest strengths heading into the knockout rounds has been squad depth. Faé has regularly rotated personnel without disrupting the team's collective balance, and young substitutes including Oumar Diakhité and Bazoumana Touré have made a real impact off the bench across the group stage, giving Ivory Coast a deeper bench than many observers expected from a squad with this little previous tournament experience. Amad Diallo has been one of the tournament's more effective wide forwards, providing pace and directness that Norway's defense will need to account for, while Franck Kessié brings over 100 caps of experience to anchor the midfield alongside Ibrahim Sangaré's physicality.

Wilfried Singo is a doubt with a hamstring concern and Amad Diallo himself was a question mark after being substituted on Matchday 3, though neither is expected to be ruled out entirely. Ivory Coast's defensive record across the group stage, conceding just twice in three matches, represents the better underlying profile of the two sides in this tie, and in a single-elimination knockout match, that defensive solidity carries real weight regardless of how much individual attacking quality Norway bring to Arlington.

Ivory Coast vs. Norway Picks

  • Match Result Pick: Norway

This is a tight tie, but Norway's ceiling, and specifically Haaland's individual quality, is too significant to fade at even money. Haaland has scored four goals in two competitive matches and arrives rested after sitting out the France defeat entirely, while Ødegaard's creativity gives Solbakken's side multiple ways to break down an organized Ivorian defense. Ivory Coast's defensive record is the better of the two profiles statistically, but Norway's qualifying campaign of eight wins from eight and their group-stage scoring output suggest a side with the firepower to eventually find the breakthrough even against a well-drilled opponent. Take Norway to win at even money.

  • Over/Under Pick: Over 2.5 Goals

Norway have scored eight goals across the group stage while Ivory Coast have found the net four times in three matches, both sides have shown the ability to score regardless of opponent quality. Both teams have scored in nine of Norway's last ten matches, a trend that speaks to the open, attacking identity both sides carry into Arlington. Ivory Coast's finishing efficiency has been the one blemish on an otherwise competent group-stage campaign, but their underlying chance creation through Diallo and the frontline has been consistent, meaning goals at the other end are a real possibility even if Norway's defense holds up better than it did against France.
