Tottenham Hotspur vs Coventry City Picks and Predictions for Monday October 19 2026
Coventry City heads to London on Monday, October 19, 2026, to face Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Kickoff is at 3:00 PM ET. Tottenham just played Manchester United to a 1-1 draw, while Coventry hammered Newcastle 4-1. Spurs are favored around -198 on the three-way moneyline, with Coventry at +482 and the draw at +354. The total is set at three goals. I’m not laying that Tottenham price. Have you watched Spurs lately? Six matches without a win, and they’ve scored three goals all season. Three! Coventry has its problems, but at least the visitors are coming off a good performance. I’m taking Coventry with a goal in hand. I don’t think we’re getting a goal fest, either.
Tottenham Hotspur Are Still Looking For A Win
Tottenham is 0-3-3 through six Premier League matches. Three points. That’s it. Spurs went to Old Trafford last Saturday and came away with a 1-1 draw against Manchester United. Dominic Solanke scored in stoppage time after Rodrigo Bentancur had been sent off. Good finish, I’ll give them that. But it’s still another game without a win. Before that, Aston Villa beat Tottenham 3-2, and Newcastle won 2-0 at Spurs’ ground. Roberto De Zerbi has spent plenty of time explaining what’s going wrong. Tottenham even took the squad to Marbella for some extra training after the United game. Maybe a few days in Spain helps. Couldn’t hurt, I suppose. But at some point, somebody has to start winning football matches.
Here’s what bothers me about Tottenham. Three goals scored and nine allowed in six league matches. That’s half a goal per game. Coventry has conceded eleven, so Spurs should get some chances Monday. But should and will are two different things. Tottenham has been getting almost 59% of the possession. Nice number. What good is it when you can’t score? They’ve also managed two clean sheets, so the defense isn’t completely hopeless. It’s the attack that’s driving everybody crazy. A couple of decent passes, somebody gets into the box, and nothing happens. Coventry isn’t Manchester City. The visitors have been giving away goals themselves. But I’m not betting on Tottenham suddenly fixing six weeks of finishing problems overnight.
Conor Gallagher has one league goal, and Savio has created eleven chances. That’s been about as encouraging as things have gotten. Solanke’s late goal against United was important, but he’s also been dealing with a knock. Tottenham has injuries all over the attack. Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert are out, while Mykhailo Mudryk is unavailable. Dejan Kulusevski is another concern. Bentancur will miss Monday through suspension, and Pedro Porro has been dealing with a thigh problem. That’s a lot of missing help. De Zerbi has talent in the squad, no question. But when your attack is already struggling, losing more attacking options isn’t exactly ideal. I’m interested to see who he puts out there Monday.

Coventry City Are Finally Giving Their Fans Something To Cheer About
Coventry is 2-0-4 with six points. Not a great start, but things have been looking a whole lot better lately. The Sky Blues just beat Newcastle 4-1 on Monday. Four goals! Jack Rudoni scored from the penalty spot, Sidiki Cherif added another, and Ellis Simms and Stephen Mfuni finished the job. That’s a pretty good night against a Premier League opponent with bigger expectations. Coventry also beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 before that. Two straight wins after losing the first four. Frank Lampard has to be feeling better about things. The players certainly looked more comfortable against Newcastle. And now they get Tottenham, a team that hasn’t won anything in the league. I wouldn’t be surprised if Coventry fancies its chances.
Coventry has scored five league goals and allowed eleven through six matches. Yeah, the defense has been giving up too much. Brighton put five past them earlier in the season, and that was ugly. But Coventry has kept things closer against other opponents. The 1-0 win at Forest was a good defensive effort, and Newcastle had plenty of the ball Monday without getting much out of it. That’s what I like about the last couple of games. Coventry hasn’t needed to dominate possession. The Sky Blues are averaging around 38%, so nobody’s confusing them with Barcelona. But they’re starting to make their chances count. Tottenham has been having trouble finishing, and I think Coventry can make this uncomfortable if it stays organized.
Rudoni has been one of Coventry’s more useful players. He’s created nine chances and scored the opening goal against Newcastle. Jay Dasilva has a goal and an assist, while Cherif, Simms and Mfuni all got on the scoresheet Monday. That’s nice to see. Different players helping out. Coventry does have injuries, though. Haji Wright is out with a thigh problem, Josh Eccles has a calf injury, and Luke Woolfenden is sidelined with a knee issue. Aurèle Amenda is also unavailable. Taiwo Awoniyi is suspended, while Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Milan van Ewijk have been dealing with fitness problems. That’s a fair amount of missing help. Coventry isn’t some unstoppable team because it won twice. But Tottenham hasn’t been giving anybody much reason to fear it, either.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Coventry City Picks and Predictions
Handicap Pick: Coventry City +1 Goal (+103)
I’m taking Coventry +1 at +103. Look, Tottenham could finally win. They’ve got the home crowd, more expensive players, and Coventry has allowed eleven goals in six matches. I get why Spurs are favored. But nearly -200 on a team that hasn’t won yet? No thanks. Tottenham has scored three league goals. Coventry just put four past Newcastle and has won two straight. I know the Sky Blues aren’t going to score four every week. That’s not what I’m expecting. I just think they can hang around. Give me Coventry with a goal. If Tottenham wins by exactly one, the bet pushes. If Coventry draws or wins, we cash. Spurs would have to win by two or more to beat us, and I haven’t seen enough from that attack to trust it. I’ll take the underdog.
Total Pick: Under 3 Goals (-111)
I’ll take Under 3 goals at -111. Tottenham has scored three times in six matches. That’s the whole argument right there, isn’t it? Well, most of it. Coventry has allowed eleven, and that worries me. Spurs could finally find some finishing against a defense that’s already given up five in one match. But Coventry has been playing better lately, and Tottenham has too many attacking injuries for me to expect an explosion. I think Lampard will be perfectly happy making this a frustrating night for the home side. Coventry doesn’t need to attack constantly. Sit back, wait for an opening, and see whether Spurs starts getting impatient. The worry is Coventry scoring early and forcing Tottenham to come forward. That could open things up. But I’m thinking something like 1-1. Maybe Coventry steals it 1-0. Either way, I’ll take the under. And if we finish on exactly three goals, it’s a push.
Final Picks: Coventry City +1 Goal (+103) and Under 3 Goals (-111).
