Golden State Valkyries vs Atlanta Dream Picks and Predictions for Monday October 26 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/26/2026, 12:54 AM ET

Four games into the WNBA Finals, and we're right back where we started. Two wins apiece. Atlanta looked ready to take control after its 97-71 victory in Game 3, then Golden State went into Atlanta and stole Game 4 by a 67-62 score. That's quite a turnaround. Now the series heads back to San Francisco, and I'm looking at a Golden State team that just won a game despite shooting terribly from three-point range. If the Valkyries can win playing that poorly offensively, what happens when a few more shots start falling?

The Atlanta Dream visit the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center in San Francisco, California, on Monday, October 26, 2026. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET on USA Network and Peacock. Golden State is a slight 1.5-point favorite, with the total at 150.5. The best-of-seven championship series is tied 2-2, so Monday's winner will be one victory away from the first title in franchise history.

Atlanta Dream Need to Clean Up the Mistakes

Atlanta has been a dangerous team throughout the postseason, but Saturday's loss was a reminder that the Dream can't afford to get careless. They scored 97 points in Game 3 and looked almost unstoppable, then managed only 62 in Game 4. That's a 35-point drop in one game. The Dream also committed 18 turnovers Saturday, and Golden State turned those mistakes into extra possessions. Atlanta has enough offensive talent to win this series, but it can't keep handing the Valkyries opportunities.

The Dream have scored 64, 79, 97, and 62 points through the first four games of the Finals. That's an average of 75.5, but the variation tells the story. When Atlanta gets comfortable offensively, it can put up big numbers. When Golden State forces the Dream into contested shots and turnovers, everything becomes difficult. Atlanta was held to only three made three-pointers in Game 4, and the Dream couldn't consistently generate good looks in the paint. The offense needs better ball movement and more patience against Golden State's aggressive defense.

Defensively, Atlanta has been capable of controlling games, particularly in Game 3 when it held Golden State to 71 points and won by 26. The Dream also held the Valkyries to 65 in Game 2. That's the defense Atlanta needs Monday. Golden State struggled from three-point range in Game 4, making only four triples, but still managed to win because it controlled the paint and forced turnovers. Atlanta needs to protect the ball and make Golden State work for every possession. If the Dream can keep the Valkyries below 75 points, they'll have a legitimate chance to take the series lead.

Golden State Valkyries Have the Home-Court Advantage

Golden State has already shown it can win ugly, and that's important in a championship series. The Valkyries won Game 1 by a 68-64 score, lost Games 2 and 3, then bounced back with Saturday's 67-62 victory. They've now won two games in which neither team reached 70 points. That's not an accident. Golden State has been one of the best defensive teams in the league, and the Valkyries are comfortable making opponents work for every basket. Returning to Chase Center should only help.

The Valkyries have scored 68, 65, 71, and 67 points in the Finals. That's an average of just 67.8 per game. The offense hasn't been particularly efficient, but Golden State has compensated by forcing turnovers and controlling the defensive end. In Game 4, the Valkyries committed only nine turnovers while forcing 18 from Atlanta. They also outscored the Dream 38-28 in the paint. That's the formula Golden State needs to repeat. The Valkyries don't have to shoot 50% from the field if they're winning the possession battle and getting extra scoring opportunities.

The biggest concern is the three-point shooting. Golden State made only four triples in Game 4 and shot 16% from beyond the arc. That's a terrible number for a team that relied heavily on outside shooting during the regular season. But the Valkyries still won. If Golden State can improve even modestly from three-point range while maintaining its defensive intensity, the offense should be more productive. Atlanta has shown it can score in bunches, so the Valkyries can't assume another 67-point performance will be enough. But at home, with the series tied, I like Golden State's chances.

Golden State Valkyries vs Atlanta Dream Picks and Predictions

Golden State Valkyries -1.5

I'll lay 1.5 points with Golden State. The Valkyries just went into Atlanta and won despite shooting 16% from three-point range. That's a pretty good sign that their defense can carry them when the offense struggles. Golden State forced 18 turnovers Saturday and held the Dream to 62 points. Now the series returns to Chase Center, where the Valkyries have been much more comfortable. Atlanta is dangerous, and the Dream already won Game 2 in San Francisco, so this isn't a free ticket. But I think Golden State's defense and home-court advantage are enough to win by more than a basket.

Under 150.5

I'm taking Under 150.5. Three of the four Finals games have finished with 144 combined points or fewer, and both Golden State victories have been low-scoring affairs. The Valkyries have averaged fewer than 68 points in this series, while Atlanta has struggled badly against Golden State's defense in Games 1 and 4. The danger is another Game 3, when the Dream scored 97 and the teams combined for 168. But I expect both teams to tighten things up with the championship on the line. A game in the neighborhood of 74-70 Golden State makes sense.

Final Picks: Golden State Valkyries -1.5 and Under 150.5
