Golden State Valkyries vs Atlanta Dream Picks and Predictions for Thursday October 29 2026
Atlanta scored 55 points Monday night. Fifty-five. In a WNBA Finals game, at home or away, that’s a tough number to swallow. And now the Dream are facing elimination. Golden State has won two straight, leads the series 3-2, and needs one more win to take home the first championship in franchise history. So here’s the question. Do you trust Atlanta to suddenly find its offense, or do you trust the defense that’s been making life miserable for the Dream?
The Valkyries head to State Farm Arena in Atlanta Thursday for Game 6. Tipoff is 12:30 PM ET on USA Network and Peacock. Yes, lunchtime basketball. The league moved the game up from its original evening slot, so anybody planning to watch after work better change those plans. Atlanta is favored by 4.5 points, with the total at 147.5. I’m taking the Dream to win, but I like the Under a whole lot more.
Golden State Valkyries Are One Win Away
Golden State went 32-12 during the regular season, and the Valkyries have been proving they belong here ever since. They knocked off Dallas in the first round, swept Las Vegas in the semifinals, and now they’ve won three of five against Atlanta. The last two wins have been downright ugly, but who cares? They beat the Dream 67-62 Saturday, then held them to 55 points Monday in a 64-55 win. That’s championship defense, even if the offense hasn’t exactly been pretty.
Golden State averaged 82.2 points during the regular season and outscored opponents by 7.1 a game. The Valkyries held opponents to 41.4 percent shooting, which was a big reason they finished with the league’s top defense. But forget the season averages for a minute. Look at what they’ve done to Atlanta lately. The Dream have scored 62 and 55 in the last two games. Golden State is making Atlanta work for everything. The Valkyries aren’t scoring much themselves, but when you’re holding the other team under 65, you don’t need a whole lot.

Golden State is 15-7 on the road, so I don’t worry much about the trip to Atlanta. The Valkyries already won Game 1 of this series and have shown they can win when the shots aren’t falling. The biggest concern is their own offense. Golden State scored only 64 Monday, and that’s not a number I’d want to depend on every night. But if the defense keeps playing like this, the Valkyries have a real chance to finish the series Thursday.
Atlanta Dream Have to Find Their Offense
Atlanta went 30-14 during the regular season and finished with the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Dream swept New York in the semifinals, then took a 2-1 lead in the Finals with a 97-71 beating of Golden State in Game 3. At that point, I thought Atlanta had figured something out. The Dream were getting good shots, running the floor and making Golden State look ordinary. Then came Games 4 and 5. Sixty-two points Saturday. Fifty-five Monday. That’s not going to win a championship.
Atlanta averaged 84.5 points during the regular season and shot 44.2 percent from the field. The Dream also led the Eastern Conference with 10.7 offensive rebounds a game. That’s the part I’d be talking about if I were in Atlanta’s locker room. Get to the glass. Get second chances. Stop settling for difficult shots late in the clock. Golden State has been making the Dream play at its pace, and Atlanta needs to change that. The Dream don’t have to score 97 again, but they can’t expect to win with 55.
Atlanta is 15-7 at home, and that’s why I’m not ready to bury the Dream. They’ve already beaten Golden State twice in this series, including that 26-point win in Game 3. The offense is capable of being much better than it was Monday. But the Dream are missing frontcourt depth with a season-ending leg injury, and that’s made the rebounding battle more difficult. Atlanta needs to win some of those loose-ball possessions and get easier baskets. Otherwise, Golden State is going to make this another long afternoon.
Golden State Valkyries vs Atlanta Dream Picks and Predictions
Atlanta Dream Moneyline (-175)
I’m taking Atlanta to win Game 6. Not because the Dream have been playing better. They haven’t. Golden State has been the better team over the last two games, and that defense is a real problem. But Atlanta is back home, where it already beat the Valkyries by 26, and I have a hard time believing this offense is going to score in the 50s again. The Dream don’t need to turn this into a track meet. They just need to get back to attacking the basket, grabbing offensive rebounds and making Golden State defend more than one shot. The danger is obvious. If the Valkyries control the pace again, Atlanta could be finished. But I’m betting the Dream find enough offense to force Game 7. I’ll take the moneyline rather than lay 4.5 points in a series where three games have been decided by single digits.
Under 147.5 Points (-110)
This is the bet I like better. Four of the five games have finished Under 147.5, and the last two have produced 129 and 119 combined points. That’s not a small dip in scoring. Golden State has been dragging Atlanta into half-court basketball, forcing tough shots and making every possession feel like work. Atlanta might shoot better at home, and that’s the biggest threat to the Under. We saw what happened when the Dream got rolling in Game 3. But I don’t think Golden State is going to let this turn into another 97-point afternoon for Atlanta. The Valkyries are comfortable winning 64-55, and Atlanta has every reason to keep this close rather than get reckless. Give me something around 74-68 Dream. That gets Atlanta to Game 7 and keeps the total Under.
Final Picks: Atlanta Dream Moneyline (-175) and Under 147.5 Points (-110)
