Anthropic IPO Odds Hit 90% After Nasdaq Move | Polymarket Promo Code

By: Alex MacMillan Published 09/14/2026, 11:15 AM ET

Polymarket traders are increasingly convinced that Anthropic will reach the public markets before the end of 2026.

The prediction market currently gives the Claude maker roughly a 90% chance of completing an IPO by December 31, following reports that Anthropic has selected Nasdaq for its potential listing.

That makes Anthropic one of Monday's clearest corporate-event prediction markets and creates a sharp contrast with rival OpenAI, which has moved away from a 2026 IPO.

More than $2.8 million has traded across Polymarket's Anthropic IPO timeline market.

Anthropic IPO Odds Reach About 90%

The December 31 contract is now trading around 90 cents, implying approximately a 90% probability that Anthropic shares will be listed and available for public trading before the end of 2026.

This is not simply a market on whether Anthropic announces IPO plans.

For the contract to resolve Yes, Anthropic shares must actually be listed on a public securities exchange and open for trading by the deadline.

That makes the current probability notable.

Traders are not merely expecting the IPO process to continue. They are assigning a very high probability that the entire listing process will be completed before New Year's Day.

Anthropic Reportedly Selects Nasdaq

The latest catalyst arrived Sunday.

Anthropic has reportedly selected Nasdaq as the exchange for its potential IPO.

Choosing an exchange is another concrete step in a process that began publicly in June, when Anthropic announced that it had confidentially filed for a U.S. initial public offering.

The market has responded by pushing the year-end listing probability toward 90%.

Selecting Nasdaq does not guarantee that the IPO occurs on schedule.

Market conditions, regulatory review and the company's own plans can still change.

But the decision gives traders another tangible milestone supporting the idea that Anthropic is moving toward a 2026 listing rather than merely considering one.

Anthropic Filed Confidentially in June

Anthropic announced its confidential IPO filing on June 1.

The filing immediately made the company one of the most closely watched potential technology listings of 2026.

Anthropic's position in the AI market gives the offering unusual significance.

The company operates Claude, one of the leading large-language-model platforms competing with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini.

An Anthropic listing would also give public-market investors direct exposure to one of the largest privately held artificial-intelligence developers.

That has helped make the IPO timeline an unusually active prediction market.

Polymarket Traders Favor a Late-2026 Listing

The shorter Anthropic IPO deadlines show how traders are thinking about timing.

A listing by the end of September remains highly unlikely.

The probability rises materially for October, then climbs sharply for later deadlines.

By December 31, the market is around 90%.

That shape suggests traders broadly expect the IPO process to continue but are allowing enough time for the remaining regulatory, marketing and pricing stages.

It also shows why the year-end contract is more useful than simply asking whether Anthropic eventually goes public.

The question is increasingly about timing rather than whether the company reaches the market at all.

Anthropic and OpenAI Are Moving in Opposite Directions

The contrast with OpenAI has become especially striking.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has ruled out a 2026 public listing as the company focuses on concerns surrounding the rapid development and safety of increasingly advanced AI systems.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has also argued for greater caution around AI development.

But Anthropic's IPO process appears to be continuing.

That leaves the two biggest private AI companies on very different public-market timelines.

Polymarket reflects that divergence.

Anthropic is near 90% to complete an IPO by year-end, while the expectation of a 2026 OpenAI listing has collapsed.

Anthropic Is Also Showing Stronger Financial Momentum

Recent reporting has provided another reason for investors to take the Anthropic IPO process seriously.

Anthropic has reportedly told investors that it expects to record positive adjusted operating income for a second consecutive quarter.

Its reported gross margins also exceed 80% before certain revenue-sharing arrangements and model-training expenses are included.

Those figures do not eliminate the enormous costs associated with developing frontier AI models.

They do, however, strengthen the case that Anthropic may be approaching the public markets with improving operating economics rather than relying only on future-growth expectations.

That distinction could matter substantially once investors receive the company's full public prospectus.

AI Stocks Are Falling Even as Anthropic IPO Odds Rise

The broader market backdrop is unusually complicated.

AI-related stocks sold off Monday after Altman, Amodei and Elon Musk called for a slower approach to advanced AI development because of growing safety concerns.

Semiconductor companies were among the hardest hit.

That creates an interesting split between public-market sentiment and the Anthropic prediction market.

Investors are becoming more cautious about the near-term AI trade.

At the same time, Polymarket traders remain highly confident that Anthropic itself will complete an IPO this year.

Those two positions are not necessarily contradictory.

An IPO can still occur during a period when valuations and sentiment are becoming more selective.

But worsening market conditions remain one of the clearest risks to the current 90% probability.

What Could Push Anthropic IPO Odds Lower?

A 90% prediction-market probability still leaves meaningful room for the listing to slip into 2027.

The biggest risk is timing.

IPO processes can be delayed by regulatory review, weak equity markets, changes in valuation expectations or company-specific developments.

Rising Treasury yields are another potential obstacle.

Higher rates generally make long-duration growth assets less attractive and can pressure the valuations investors are willing to assign to technology companies.

AI safety concerns could also affect Anthropic's timetable if management decides additional caution is necessary before entering the public markets.

A 90% market is confident.

It is not guaranteed.

How the Anthropic IPO Contract Works

Polymarket's December 31 contract resolves Yes if Anthropic shares are listed on a public securities exchange and open for trading by 11:59 p.m. ET on December 31, 2026.

An IPO announcement alone is not enough.

A confidential filing alone is not enough.

Even a publicly filed prospectus would not settle the contract.

The shares actually have to begin public trading before the deadline.

A Yes contract trading near 90 cents therefore represents roughly a 90% implied probability that the complete IPO process will be finished this year.

If the condition is satisfied, winning Yes shares settle at $1.

If Anthropic does not begin trading by the deadline, they settle at $0.

Anthropic IPO Odds: The Bottom Line

Anthropic has moved another step closer to one of the most anticipated technology IPOs of the year.

The company confidentially filed in June.

It has now reportedly selected Nasdaq.

And Polymarket traders currently assign approximately a 90% probability that Anthropic will be publicly traded by December 31.

That stands in sharp contrast with OpenAI, whose 2026 IPO expectations have collapsed after Sam Altman ruled out a listing this year.

There are still risks.

Equity markets are volatile, bond yields are rising and the AI industry is facing an increasingly serious debate over safety and development speed.

But the current prediction market has reached a clear conclusion:

Traders overwhelmingly expect Anthropic to reach the public markets before 2026 ends.

Prediction-market prices change continuously. Probabilities cited reflect available pricing at the time of writing. Promotional eligibility and terms can change. Event contracts involve financial risk and may lose their full purchase value.
