Dodgers Three-Peat Chances at 31% on Polymarket Live Odds

By: Alex MacMillan Published 08/30/2026, 01:35 PM ET

The Los Angeles Dodgers remain the clear favorite to win a third consecutive World Series, but their advantage has narrowed considerably during a difficult final stretch of August.

Los Angeles enters Sunday at 81-55 after losing 2-1 to the Detroit Tigers on Saturday.

The Dodgers have now lost four of their last five games after being swept by the Atlanta Braves earlier in the week.

The current Dodgers World Series market on Polymarket gives Los Angeles approximately a 31% chance to win the championship.

That is down substantially from the 40% probability the Dodgers carried in the previous three-peat update on August 21.

Milwaukee is the next closest team at roughly 12%, followed by the Yankees near 10%.

More than $39 million has been traded across the full 2026 World Series market.

Dodgers Three-Peat Chances Fall to 31%

Los Angeles remains comfortably ahead of the field, but the gap is no longer as extreme as it was one week ago.

Team Polymarket World Series Chance
Los Angeles Dodgers 31%
Milwaukee Brewers 12%
New York Yankees 10%
Tampa Bay Rays 7%
Boston Red Sox 6%
Philadelphia Phillies 6%
Atlanta Braves 6%

The Dodgers are still more than twice as likely as any other individual team to win the World Series according to the current market.

A 31% championship probability is enormous for one club with roughly a month remaining in the regular season.

The important development is the direction.

Los Angeles was at 40% during the previous Picks & Parlays update.

The market has removed roughly nine percentage points from the Dodgers during a stretch featuring losses, rotation uncertainty and stronger pressure from other National League contenders.

Dodgers Have Lost Four of Their Last Five

Los Angeles entered last week on a six-game winning streak.

Atlanta ended it immediately.

The Braves beat the Dodgers in all three games of their series, including a 1-0 victory Thursday behind a complete game from Chris Sale.

The sweep was Atlanta's first over Los Angeles since 2013.

Los Angeles then opened its Detroit series with a 2-1 victory Friday before falling by the same score Saturday.

That leaves the Dodgers with four losses in five games.

Saturday's defeat was particularly frustrating because Los Angeles had opportunities to produce more offense.

Freddie Freeman drove in the Dodgers' only run, and Los Angeles failed to capitalize after loading the bases in the sixth inning.

The recent issue has not been an inability to compete.

It has been an inability to consistently turn close games into wins.

One-Run Losses Have Become a Problem

Saturday produced another narrow defeat.

Detroit scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth after Javier Baez opened the inning with a double.

Kevin McGonigle eventually delivered the game-winning single.

The loss was Los Angeles' 10th one-run defeat since the All-Star break.

That matters when evaluating a team built around October expectations.

Close postseason games often turn on one bullpen inning, one missed scoring opportunity or one defensive mistake.

The Dodgers have enough talent to remain the World Series favorite.

Their recent results nevertheless provide evidence that the gap between Los Angeles and the rest of the field may not be as large as the 40% market price suggested one week ago.

Shohei Ohtani's Pitching Status Is Uncertain

The most important new health question involves Shohei Ohtani.

Ohtani has been working toward another return to the mound, but manager Dave Roberts acknowledged that the two-way star is not currently at 100%.

Ohtani experienced soreness in his right biceps and left knee after a bullpen session Friday.

That created uncertainty around plans for him to pitch against Detroit on Sunday.

The Dodgers have a simple priority.

They cannot risk compromising one of the most important hitters in baseball simply to accelerate his return to the rotation.

Ohtani has continued contributing offensively, hitting .283 with 30 home runs and 80 RBIs through 125 games.

His pitching upside would make an already deep October rotation even stronger.

Los Angeles first needs him healthy enough for that role.

Ohtani Could Still Be a Major October Weapon

The reason his pitching status matters to the World Series market is straightforward.

Before his latest physical issues, Ohtani had been one of the league's best starters.

He carries an 8-2 record with a 1.79 ERA across 14 starts this season.

Adding that version of Ohtani to a postseason rotation already featuring Tarik Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow would give Los Angeles an extraordinary number of high-end options.

The Dodgers do not necessarily need Ohtani to pitch in order to win another championship.

His bat already provides enormous value.

But a healthy Ohtani capable of handling meaningful October innings would raise the ceiling of the entire roster.

That possibility is now less certain than it appeared earlier in August.

Roki Sasaki Is Back on the Injured List

Ohtani is not the only rotation concern.

The Dodgers placed Roki Sasaki on the 15-day injured list because of a blister on his right middle finger.

The injury developed during Wednesday's loss to Atlanta.

Sasaki had been pitching considerably better before the setback.

He was 2-0 with a 2.31 ERA and 34 strikeouts across his previous six starts.

That improvement had strengthened the Dodgers' already deep collection of pitching options.

The current injury does not necessarily threaten his postseason availability.

It does create another variable for a team trying to determine exactly which pitchers will be healthy and effective when October begins.

Blake Snell Continues to Look Strong

Saturday's loss did provide another encouraging rotation performance.

Snell struck out 10 hitters over five innings against Detroit and allowed only one run.

The veteran left-hander has looked increasingly sharp after returning from elbow surgery.

That is important because the Dodgers do not need every injured pitcher to recover simultaneously if the healthy members of the rotation are performing at a high level.

Snell gives Los Angeles another potential postseason starter capable of missing bats against elite lineups.

Skubal and Yamamoto provide similar upside.

Glasnow has also returned from the injured list.

The question is becoming less about whether the Dodgers have enough starting pitching and more about which combination will be available and healthy when the postseason begins.

Atlanta Sweep Increased the NL Seeding Pressure

The Braves series also mattered beyond the three losses.

Atlanta closed the gap on Los Angeles in the race for one of the top two seeds in the National League.

The Dodgers remain in excellent postseason position, but securing a top-two seed would provide a first-round bye under the current playoff format.

That makes the final month relevant even for a team with a comfortable path to October.

Los Angeles is not simply preparing for the postseason.

The Dodgers are trying to make that postseason path as favorable as possible.

Milwaukee continues to own baseball's best record, while Atlanta has applied pressure from behind.

Another extended Dodgers slump could significantly change the National League bracket.

Milwaukee Is Still Far Behind Los Angeles on Polymarket

The Brewers provide one of the most interesting comparisons on the championship board.

Milwaukee owns the best record in baseball.

The Brewers are also only around 12% to win the World Series on Polymarket.

Los Angeles sits near 31%.

That difference shows how heavily traders continue to value the Dodgers' roster construction and recent postseason history.

The Dodgers have won consecutive championships.

They added Skubal to an already elite pitching staff.

Their lineup still includes Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freeman.

Milwaukee's regular-season performance has been superior.

Traders still believe Los Angeles is substantially more likely to survive the October playoff format.

Dodgers Still Have a Favorable Remaining Schedule

One advantage for Los Angeles is the schedule.

The Dodgers have relatively few remaining games against clubs currently holding winning records.

That gives them an opportunity to stabilize after the difficult series against Atlanta and rebuild momentum before October.

A favorable schedule does not guarantee anything.

Los Angeles has spent much of the second half producing less consistent offense than it did early in the year.

Teams outside postseason contention can still win individual series.

But the Dodgers should have opportunities to accumulate victories without facing championship-level opponents every week.

That could help protect both their NL West position and their chance at a first-round bye.

What Could Push Dodgers Three-Peat Chances Higher?

Health is the clearest variable.

If Ohtani proves capable of returning to the mound without putting his offensive availability at risk, the Dodgers would gain another elite October pitching option.

A quick Sasaki recovery would provide additional depth.

Continued strong performances from Snell, Skubal, Yamamoto and Glasnow would further stabilize the rotation.

The offense also needs to regain consistency.

Los Angeles remains capable of producing huge scoring performances, but its recent one-run losses have exposed how costly missed opportunities can become.

A strong September combined with better health could easily send the Dodgers' championship probability higher again.

What Could Send the Dodgers Below 30%?

Another extended losing stretch could do it.

Los Angeles has already fallen from 40% to approximately 31%.

The market therefore appears willing to meaningfully reprice the defending champions when results and health concerns accumulate.

Ohtani suffering a setback would be another important catalyst.

Additional injuries to the rotation or bullpen could have a similar effect.

Playoff seeding matters as well.

If Milwaukee maintains the National League's best record and Atlanta overtakes Los Angeles for the No. 2 seed, the Dodgers could face a more difficult October route.

A team can remain the World Series favorite while seeing its probability fall.

That is exactly what has happened over the past week.

How the Dodgers Polymarket World Series Contract Works

The contract resolves according to whether the Los Angeles Dodgers officially win the 2026 World Series.

A Yes position represents the view that Los Angeles will win the championship.

If the Dodgers complete the three-peat, winning Yes shares resolve at $1.

If another team wins the World Series or Los Angeles is eliminated, the Dodgers Yes position resolves at $0.

The market uses official MLB information as its primary resolution source.

Prices move continuously as traders respond to results, injuries, roster developments and postseason positioning.

The current 31% should therefore be viewed as a live market-implied probability rather than a fixed prediction.

Can the Dodgers Win a Third Straight World Series?

Los Angeles remains the most likely individual champion in baseball according to Polymarket.

The Dodgers just look considerably less dominant than they did one week ago.

Their championship probability has fallen from 40% to approximately 31%.

They have lost four of five games.

Atlanta swept them.

Ohtani's return to the mound is uncertain.

Sasaki has returned to the injured list.

Those developments are meaningful.

They have not erased the reasons Los Angeles remains the favorite.

The Dodgers are 81-55, possess one of baseball's deepest rosters and still have a potential postseason rotation loaded with elite arms.

Polymarket continues to place them comfortably ahead of Milwaukee and every American League contender.

The three-peat remains very realistic.

The current 31% price simply reflects a race that looks considerably more competitive than it did during the Dodgers' previous update.
