Foldable iPhone Release Chances at 96% | Polymarket Promo Code

By: Devin Erickson-Sheehy Published 09/08/2026, 10:45 AM ET

Polymarket promo code PICKS2026 is available as traders give Apple a 96% chance of releasing its first foldable iPhone by the end of 2026.

Apple's next major product event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9 at 10 a.m. PT, or 1 p.m. ET, and the long-rumored foldable phone is expected to be one of the biggest potential announcements.

The prediction market is nearly convinced the device will reach consumers before the year ends.

What it is not expecting is an immediate release.

Polymarket currently gives Apple only about a 2% chance of actually releasing a foldable iPhone by September 9, compared with roughly 96% by December 31.

That distinction matters because the contract requires the device to be available for purchase. An announcement alone does not count.

Polymarket Promo Code PICKS2026: Foldable iPhone Chances Reach 96%

The year-end market has become extremely confident that Apple's first foldable phone will arrive in 2026.

Polymarket currently prices a release by December 31 at about 96%.

The shorter deadlines tell a more useful story.

A release by September 9 is around 2%.

September 10 is near 3%.

September 15 sits around 11%.

The probability climbs to roughly 44% by September 30 before jumping to about 90% by the end of October.

More than $550,000 has been traded across the full market.

The shape of those prices suggests traders broadly expect Apple to introduce the device soon without making it immediately available.

That fits the normal gap between a product announcement, preorders and the date customers can actually buy the device.

Tomorrow's Apple event is therefore the first major checkpoint.

If Apple unveils a foldable model and gives it a firm 2026 release date, the already-high year-end probability would have little room left to rise.

If the product is absent from the event, the market could move sharply in the other direction.

Apple's September 9 Event Puts the Foldable iPhone in Focus

Apple has officially scheduled its β€œSurprise and shine” event for September 9.

The company has not publicly confirmed what it will announce.

Reporting around the event, however, has centered heavily on Apple's next iPhone lineup and the possibility that the company will finally enter the foldable-phone market.

That would make this year's launch different from a routine annual iPhone update.

Apple has spent years watching Samsung, Huawei and other manufacturers develop foldable devices while staying on the sidelines.

That may be about to change.

Reuters reported that analysts view the first foldable iPhone as an important potential driver of higher average selling prices and stronger margins for Apple.

The event is also the first major product showcase under new CEO John Ternus.

That gives the launch another layer of significance.

A foldable iPhone would not merely add another model to the lineup. It would represent one of Apple's biggest hardware changes in years at the beginning of a new leadership era.

Why the Market Is at 96% Even Though Tomorrow Is Only 2%

The apparent contradiction disappears once the contract rules are clear.

Polymarket is not asking whether Apple will announce a foldable iPhone by September 9.

It is asking whether Apple will release one.

For the market to resolve Yes, the phone must be available for purchase by the public.

That means Apple could unveil the device tomorrow, open preorders later in the week and begin sales weeks afterward without the September 9 contract resolving Yes.

The longer-dated probabilities reflect exactly that possibility.

September 30 is around 44%.

October 31 is near 90%.

December 31 is roughly 96%.

That progression indicates traders expect a launch announcement well before they expect broad retail availability.

Tomorrow's event should clarify whether that assumption is correct.

Apple could provide a model name, price, preorder date and launch date.

Each of those details could immediately change the shorter-term contracts.

A delay into 2027 would hit the 96% year-end price much harder.

Apple Enters a Foldable Market Led by Samsung and Huawei

Apple would not be entering an empty category.

Huawei and Xiaomi both introduced new foldable devices immediately ahead of Apple's September event.

Huawei has built a particularly strong position in China, where Reuters reported that the company controlled about 68% of the foldable-phone market during the second quarter.

Samsung remains the global leader.

That creates a different dynamic from many past Apple product launches.

The company is not creating the foldable category.

It is arriving after competitors have already spent years testing different screen formats, hinges, form factors and price points.

The question is whether Apple's entry can turn foldables from a relatively small premium niche into a larger part of the smartphone market.

Analysts cited by Reuters expect Apple's foldable device to compete at the high end of the market and potentially lift average iPhone selling prices.

That helps explain why tomorrow's event has attracted interest well beyond Apple enthusiasts.

It is a product decision with implications for Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Apple's margins and the broader premium smartphone business.

Polymarket traders currently believe the wait is almost over.

The year-end release probability is roughly 96%.

The probability of having one available for purchase by tomorrow is only about 2%.

Wednesday's Apple event should tell us whether those two numbers are pricing the timeline correctly.
