This is an 8* play on the San Francisco Giants.
The Royals got here with clutch hitting and an air-tight bullpen, but as we head into Game 6 of this year's Fall Classic, you have to wonder if either of those qualities remain for the Royals. The bullpen has been roughed up pretty good in San Francisco, surrendering 10 runs in the last two games. That's not good news for K.C. with youngster Yordano Ventura on the the mound tonight.
Ventura has been bothered by a sore shoulder, and he's failed to get out of the sixth inning in each of his last two appearances. The Giants were locked in on him pretty good in Game 2, but they only manufactured two runs on eight hits through 5 1/3 innings.
The Giants will hand the ball to veteran Jake Peavy, who gave up four runs on six hits over six innings in the loss in Game 2. He'll be backed up by a bunch of fresh arms in the bullpen though, as Mad Bum did all the work himself in Game 5 in San Francisco.
If Bruce Bochy is smart, he'll have Peavy on a short leash. There is even talk that he might bring Bumgarner out of the bullpen.
Win or lose, I expect this game to be close.
