Money Line: -115.00 St. Louis (Home)
Result: Loss
This is a 10* play on the STL Cardinals.

The Cardinals are on the verge of sweeping the Pittsburgh Pirates, which would put them a full eight games up on the second place Bucs. With the Cardinals at home, with a favorable matchup on the mound, I can't see how the bookmakers justify putting this game out at almost even odds.

Lance Lynn will toe the slab for St. Louis, and he's lights out at home in Busch Stadium. Lynn (9-6, 2.76 ERA) tossed six scoreless innings, allowing six hits and striking out seven in a 6-0 win at Milwaukee his last time out. He's 6-2 with a 2.15 ERA at home this year, and he's 27-11 with a 2.81 ERA in St. Louis over the last three seasons. He's also owned the Pirates at home, going 1-0 with a 2.75 ERA in his last three home starts versus Pittsburgh.

The Pirates hand the ball to Francisco Liriano, who comes in riding a seven game unbeaten streak. Liriano (7-6, 3.13 ERA) was torched for four runs on seven hits and two walks over just three innings in a no decision versus the Dodgers in his last start. He's been at his best in day games, but is just 2-5 with a 3.54 ERA in a dozen starts under the lights this season.

Jhonny Peralta has seen plenty of Liriano, and he's owned the left-hander hitting .333 with four home runs and eight RBIs in 51 career at bats.

The Pirates are 16-38 in the last 54 meetings in St. Louis.

Take STL.
