The Tigers are just one game back of Baltimore in the American League Wild Card race, and they have a favorable matchup at home Thursday versus the cellar dwelling Twins.

Mike Pelrey will toe the slab for the Tigers, and he's facing his former team here today. Pelfrey (4-9, 4.76 ERA) tossed five scoreless innings in an 11-0 home win over Houston his last time out. He's making his first start in the majors since July, but the Tigers won his last three starts, and he pitched pretty well in those games.

The Twins hand the ball to Hector Santiago, who has really struggled since coming over from LA. Santiago (11-8, 4.75 ERA) allowed one run on five hits and four walks over seven innings in a 2-1 home win over Cleveland his last time out. He's surrendered 17 runs on 28 hits over 20 innings, losing his last four starts on the road. He was rocked for six runs on five hits and three walks, giving up three home runs in his only previous start versus the Tigers this year.

The Twins are 1-12 in their last 13 road games.
