Rookie left-hander Kohl Drake (0-0 1.80 ERA) will make his second career major league start for the Diamondbacks. Drake, who was an 11th round draft pick in 2022, fanned five batters in five innings in his major league debut. Arizona emerged victorious in extra innings by a 6-5 final score versus the Athletics.

Nationals Preview

The Washington Nationals have split their previous ten games and are two games back in the race for the final National League Wild Card spot. During yesterday’s home victory, All-Star SS C.J. Abrams fell a triple short of the cycle and drove in three runs to spark the Washington offense. SP Foster Griffin (12-2) allowed three runs in six plus innings to earn the win for the Nationals (53-52), who improved to 21-32 at home.

Thirty-seven year old righty Miles Mikolas (3-7 5.60 ERA) is no longer a serviceable major league caliber starter. Last time out, Mikolas (3.2 IP) was tagged for six hits and three runs during an 8-7 road loss against Colorado.
