The Athletics enter this matchup at 26-26 on the season, while Houston comes in at 25-31 after winning 10 of its last 16 games and showing significant improvement throughout May and early June. The Athletics have been one of the biggest surprises in the American League this season. Through 52 games, they have remained in the AL West race. The Athletics are averaging 4.6 runs and 8.4 hits per game.The Athletics are expected to send J.T. Ginn to the mound on Friday. Ginn enters the matchup with a 3-3 record, a 2.87 ERA, and 52 strikeouts.

Astros Preview

The Astros have begun to climb back into the AL West race after a disastrous April. Houston has won several key series recently and is coming off an impressive comeback victory over Pittsburgh on Wednesday. The Astros are averaging 4.4 runs and 8.3 hits per game, with Yordan Alvarez continuing to anchor the offense. Christian Walker has also provided much-needed power in the middle of the lineup, while the pitching staff dramatically improved from a 6.08 ERA in April to 3.66 in May. Houston is projected to counter with Peter Lambert on Friday. Lambert enters the game with a 4-4 record and a 3.77 ERA.
