Thirty-one year old righty Luis Severino (6-11 4.82 ERA) has not delivered in his first season with the Athletics. In his last start, Severino (5 IP) gave up six hits and five runs during an 11-5 home victory versus Cincinnati.

Pirates Preview

The Pittsburgh Pirates have dropped nine of their previous ten games and are trapped in the NL Central Division cellar. On Wednesday, Pittsburgh batters went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base during an 8-4 home loss versus Chicago. C Joey Bart crushed a three-run blast in a losing effort for the Pirates (65-88), who fell to 42-36 at home.

The Pirates will counter with twenty-nine year old righty Mitch Keller (6-14 4.13 ERA) in the series opener. Through 167 plus innings, Keller has struck out 140 batters and owns a respectable 1.25 WHIP.
