The Braves (32-16) have won 16 of their first 24 road games and are sitting comfortably atop the NL East Division standings. Last night, Atlanta SP J.R. Ritchie (1-1) surrendered six runs in four innings during an ugly 12-0 road loss against Miami.

Thirty-five year old southpaw Martin Perez (2-2 2.25 ERA) will make his sixth start of the year for the Braves. Through 36 innings of work, Perez has retired 28 batters by strikes and owns a minuscule 0.94 WHIP.

Marlins Preview

The Miami Marlins are three games above .500 at home and are ten games off the pace in the NL East Division race. During Monday’s decisive home victory, C Joe Mack and IF Javier Sanoja drove in four runs apiece out of the bottom two spots in the Miami order. Leadoff hitter Xavier Edwards homered and scored twice for the Marlins (22-26).

The Marlins will give the nod to twenty-eight year old lefty Braxton Garrett (0-1 33.75 ERA) on Tuesday. In his first start of the year, Garrett (1.1 IP) walked five batters and was charged with five runs during an ugly 9-1 road loss against Minnesota.

Atlanta OF Ronald Acuna Jr. (hamstring) will not be activated from the 10-day injured list until he is healthy enough to play the outfield.
